Tanks in my biased view brits. Their tier 1 tanks are absolutely monsters. They are really fast and guns penetrate great for tier 1. Brits are just lacking armor on most of their tanks and no HE-filler in their shells what means when you penetrate something it does not make as big of explosion as other nations shells. Brits tier 1 and 2 are good for brawling and tier 3 is quite bad imo. Once in tier 4 things should be better again.
And one thing you SHOULD NEVER DO is play russian planes nor tanks, if you don't want be called noob and alot of other things. And playing them does not feel rewarding and gives you the wrong image of playing this game.
For starters I suggest you choose any nation you have a strong interest in. Germany and Russia tend to be more friendly towards beginners but you can be successful in any nation as a begginer.
Just keep in mind that you are always learning!
For fun select Japan.
UK is good for tanks all the way to the top and has great aircraft. As mentioned mid way up the UK is a challenge for a while. But it gets better in tier 4 and 5 again.
If you want jets later on select to start with US or Russia.
Russia all the way then, even monkey can handle those, both tanks and planes.
Britain has the best Tier 1 set up and goes strong into Tier 2. Germans are a close 2nd in Tier 1... alright in tier 2.
US are middle of the road in Tier 1 and 2. The M3 Lee with its tough frontal armor really is a beast if used properly and their Light Tanks are a lot of fun.
Russia is terrible in Tier 1. They have like 2 good tanks.. the T-60 and the T-50. Its an uphill battle with any of their other tanks, as they are just bad. Tier 2 on the other hand... that is when you get T-34... the latest patch took them down a peg, or so i feel, but its still a strong line up in Tier 2.
Overall i think you'll be best off with Britain. I haven't played them all through Tier 3 yet, but from my experience playing to tier 3.. you should have at least 50ish or so hours of experience in good tanks and a good mix of it. Some fast, some heavy tanks and strong guns that penetrate everything.. just keep in mind.. its downhill from there :D
Except in tier 1. Their Tier 1 tanks are crap.
German tanks are the best sniper tanks, T1 to late T2 you will probably lack behind other tanks in terms of armor and speed but you will have the best guns and ammo. They typically are the first to field long barreled guns. However, early Panzer 3's and 4's normally get slaughtered by KV1's and T34's.
But don't worry, once you get to the Tigers and Panthers you will become top dog. Other nations tanks at T3 are typically filled with refits of old tanks, but Germany gets completely new tanks to use. At T5 Russia takes the game, with their vast array of post war tanks to fight you with.
British and American tanks are mostly similar, they focus on high penetrating solid AP shells (Meaning, it's just a solid shot. It wont do much damage, but it can get through lots of armor) but they split at T4 and T5. Britian mostly uses APDS and America uses HEAT/HEATFS. Most of their late tier tanks have extreme armor on certain spots but they have rather obvious weakspots.
