A premium plane for Erich Hartmann
For those of you who don't know, Erich Hartmann was a Luftwaffe flying ace, and the world's most successful fighter pilot. By the end of his career on May 8th, 1945 he had shot down 345 Soviet aircraft and 7 American ones. He had flown 1,404 combat missions and participated in aerial combat on 825 seperate occasions. His nickname by his (ironically communist, and therefore supposedly atheist) Soviet enemies was the "The Black Devil." My question is, if someone like Hagiri who downed somewhere between 13 to 15 enemy fighters gets his own special plane named after the one he most famously flew, then why not the man who dwarfs that and all other fighter pilot scores by a longshot?

He mostly flew a Bf 109 for many of his victories, though I know he flew a few other planes thoughout the war. He dressed his plane in opposite colors than his other pilots, but eventually stopped because Soviet fliers would actually go out of their way to avoid his plane. He was never shot down once, but did have to land 14 times due to either hitting enemy plane parts after he had recently shot them down or engine troubles. His story during and after the war are rather remarkable, and I suggest you look him up. But back on topic, I believe that we should get a plane like "Hartmann's Bf 109" or something. Considering he is the greatest aerial ace of all time, I feel he kind of deserves it.

Given that he is one of the few German heroes that aren't somehow tied into the nazi party it seems that he would be a good choice.

Likely Gaijin will avoid it so as to not embarass mother Russia for his false imprisonment for over 10 years after the war on fake charges.

But I do think that the extremely important part to remember is that he was a purely military man with no connections to the Nazi Party, so there shouldn't be any real moral problems with including his plane and name's likeness is War Thunder.

The only reason for German aces not being presented that I can think of (besides Russian hatred towards them) is the swastika. It'd have to be removed from the aircraft, which would make the livery "unhistorical".

Hartmann's career didn't end on 8th of may 1945. He served for 5 years in the Wehrmacht Luftwaffe from 1940-1945, was a Pow from 1945 to 1955 and served in the Bundeswehr Luftwaffe from 1956-1970.

The German Canadair Sabre has a Hartmann themed skin available in game, but it can't be unlocked through kills, it's buy only.
