If you drop the bombs/rockets on a fighter does it remove the penalties?
just wondering this because of my thunderbolt. Basically once you use them they are gone, unlike a bomber or assault, so it would make sense if the weight penalties went away too.

From what I can tell, HVAR is a larger diameter rocket than the bazooka: 127mm vs 114mm. The HVAR has a greater explosive potential than the bazooka. As for the main question, I'm wondering the same thing.

If your talking about AB then no there are no weight penalties because it's AB, so planes meanuver and fly at the same exact speed with or without ordinance.

RB and SB are realistic, so they do have weight penalties when ordinance is on them and they get rid of the penalties when you drop the ordinance.

As for HVAR and bazooka idk (even though my name is HBZK idk much about bazookas lol).

Yes, it does. At least, I know it does in realistic and simulator. If you fly out the Ju-87 R2 with the 1,000kg bomb, you'll notice the significant change in your ability to turn.

When you carry bombs on a plane, usually these bombs are connected to the wings or fusilage by pylons. After you drop the bombs, do those pylons (or expended rocket tubes) still create drag?

idk, it would be a very small amount of drag.

yes in arcade=you gain from unloading

If they do still generate drag, it's probably not enough to notice.

HVARs have a much smaller warhead than 114mm rockets. 5 inch FFARs are what you're thinking of but the HVAR has a very small warhead to save weight so the rockets can attain greater speed and thus not shoot yourself down with them.

As for the OP's question, it may remove the weight penalty (you can feel a noticeable difference after dropping your ordnance) but you're still going to have a drag penalty from the pylons themselves.

if your using us with the bakooka youll get a littledrag but not much

Just a guess but HVAR probably stands for something like High Velocity Attack Rocket. It makes sense that it'd have a smaller charge and higher velocity.

Also it seems that there is a difference in AB not just RB and SB. You can feel the weight difference between bombloads, even in arcade. Drag might not be as much of an issue in AB but you can feel the weight for sure. Although the B7N does feel faster with the 800kg bomb that's inside the fuselage. The other bombloads all have bombs on the wngs which creates drag.

Once you drop your bombs/rockets/torps most of the performance penalties go away. The penalties from the struts that hold them still affect you.

I have definitely noticed weight differences from carrying bombs, rockets, and/or gunpods in arcade; it's not as severe as RB or SB but it is definitely noticeable, and firing bombs/rockets removes those penalties not generated by the struts (I doubt those are too bad unless you have tube-mounted rockets).

High Velocity Aerial Rocket
Forward Firing Aerial Rocket

there is also a 2.75 inch FFAR which is Folding Fin Aerial Rocket
