Red trail?

Hey I pressed a random key om my p-47 thunderbolt (german one) and it popped a red smoke trail any ideas what this is because i have no idea what key it was

its the L key sir.

You activated aerobatic smoke. You can turn it on and off with L. You can also edit color and type of smoke in the Options

yes, you can also change where it comes from, either the tail of the tips of the wings

smoke is vital-i never fly without-enemies can see me-and freindlies too....it confuses some and vexes others draws in some and keeps away -part 1 of pychological war-and hopefully your visible so yr not accidentally rammed-and they can see ya chasing-notice you and perhaps assist-lead the way-with a smoke trail,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and its pretty

I use it when someones on my tail. I also use it when im stalking a bomber.

As already mentioned smoke is more than just looks...

For the 710th we use smoke for many reasons. When forming up, smoke trails act as guides. When flying formation smoke acts as a psycological weapon of intimidation, and when flying near team-mates it brings out teamwork and a general "Hoo-Rah" mentality from randoms. They find it cool, turn theirs on too, and join in the formation :)

Smoke trailes for aprox 1km, with thick smoke withing .5km. This can be used when flying lose formations in clouds, when you can no longer see the Group Leader.

When flying a 4 person formation you can have lead run trails on wings, with two wing-men formed up one on each trail, then sandwich number 4 in the back midle between the lead wing tips. Perfect dioamond easy aligment, looks like this....
