Well like all these british guns, the have very good penetrations values, but with APDS shells only, which contains no HE, meaning that it will do a lot less damage inside the tank.
Buying that tank is up to your gameplay, it has good armor by the way...

not GOOD armor for 6.0 decent at best and in the case tht you do get downteired to 5.0 its still pretty meh

The Black Prince was OP as heck at 5.7.

And it's useless at 6.0 just like T-34-100 was OP at 6.3 and is useless at 6.7.
APDS nerf didnt help either.
I find their habit of nerfing premium vehicles really annoying market strategy, they release clearly OP premium vehicle, milk it 6 months and when the sales start dropping they nerf it into stoneage.
You only bought this vehicle because of those specific stats, they should not be premitted to change this.

With a BP the 6.0 lineup for the British is 'interesting'; BP (tanky), FV4202 (ridgeline) & Charioteer (flanker). The problem is that if you are under tiered (which happens too often due to Tiger 2 popularity) the BP armour becomes less useful and the gun is just okay (can't knock that rof though). On tier with other 6.0 tanks it's good. Over tiered it's still a beast (Tiger 1 trolling).

BP tracks eat rounds for breakfast, so it can be a powerful brawler, but it's not good at travelling long distances (obviously). It works in urban battles, I'm sitting on a KD of 2:1 but it was very OP when it first came out.

On a flat surface you can shoot on the move with pretty decent accuracy, and with a maxed out re-loader this means you can play very aggressive. The problem is it's just 'okay' at 6.0 BR which isn't what you expect of a premium tank.

I felt that solid slugs were performing better again, and sloped armour has been 'rebalanced'? I'm still seeing enough one shots (when the RNG isn't against me) to keep me happy with the British tree.

What really pissed me off was Gaijin not giving FV4202 APDS shells. I was really looking forward for this tank to replace the insane repair cost Caernarvon but now they pulled this crap.
Same gun and BR as Charioteer but no we do not give you APDS shells.

FV4202 is a medium tank, it gets artillery and some armour (turret is actually good at medium or longer range).

Charioteer is a TD, no artillery but better ammo options, no armour at all - poor gun depression for a British tank, but fast - more like a light tank really.

So ones gets the Mk1, the other APDS, I think that's fair.

The Mk1 20 pound shell is pretty decent; good velocity and enough pen for most enemies. 9.1 kg shell at 1100 m/s is a lot of damage; fragments better than the APDS. Of course it's much more likely to bounce.

I think they are well balanced.

Of course if the FV4202 got APDS; why have the Centurion Mk3 at 6.3?
