IS-1 vs T34-85 (D5T)

They have the same guns (and stock ammo), and the T34-85 D5T is probably my favorite Russian tank in the game, but why does the IS-1 suck so super hard? I literally cannot penetrate or get any kills with it, with the D5T i'm usually #1 in the team when it comes to kills. Is it because of the higher BR that you get outclassed ? Because right now I'm just going to skip the IS-1 all together because it's 1. Extremely slow, 2. Can't kill anything, 3. Due to its BR the fat armor is useless, since every enemy tank will one hit kill you anyway.

Why is the IS-1 a 5.7 BR tank when the 5.0 D5T is so much more superior in every single way?

The game is 10000% more enjoyable with the tank unequipped, because the outclassing is so f*cking real with this thing

Bekause tovarish T-34/85 is glorious Soviet tonk and is balance)))))))

Seriously though, the IS-1 is likely a 5.7 because it has comparable armour to a Tiger. Really the tank is garbage and only serves as filler tank until you get the IS-2, which is awesome by the way.

A few hours ago I flanked a Tiger 1 (10-20 meters away), and I could not for the life of me kill it from any of the angles. I aimed specifically for the ammo storages, I kept circling around it (backwards, cuz glorious reverse turbo) and even flat on the side it would not kill the tiger
My D5T chews tigers up, and it has the same f*cking gun.
Something is not right with the IS-1 man. It cannot possibly seize the means of production for any of my comrades.

Yeah that's what im doing right now, I enjoy both t34-85's and the Su-152 alot so I have no problem playing with what I have right now. IS-1 = skipped

yeah skip the IS1, no idea why its a 5.7 it could fit at 5.0 by russian standards

Exactly. The BR is so skewed that it stands no chance at 5.7 unless you flip a coin and get lucky by being matched with lower BR's

It's possible the Tiger had a low amount of ammo so the ammo racks you were aiming for were probably empty. Considering there's nothing behind them, it's possible you just weren't hitting anything other than space. You might be doing better with the T-34/85 because you have the attitude that it's better and the constant gnawing thought that the JS-1 is inferior, so you do worse.

It's the BR and the curved armor of the IS-1 so you can't angle it well

Yep that is indeed a huge problem with the IS-1
It wouldn't be "as bad" if it's gun could atleast penetrate Tiger II's and other BR6+ tanks, but it can't, and that's what makes the tank a very poor experience to use

Personally I feel the BR is too high, and that is what causing the issues.
In my T34-85 I get uptiered alot too, but in those matches I can atleast kill 80% of the enemy tanks

It should be 5.3 tank and KV-85 should be 5.0. At 5.7 it simply does not work with almost quaranteed uptier.

Purely because of extra armor? Cuz I'm already having a hard time with my T34-85 against Tiger II's and such

the T44s armour is way better, plus it's faster im pretty sure.
