How to avoid bad playerbase (cheaters, teamkillers, campers)

After playing for a while I figured out where the good stuff is in this game.

While the servers are automated there are still controls for you to use and pick the right filtration which will lead into a much better experience.

Step-by-step:

1. Open your game.
2. Before joining a server click on the game type expander and on the bottom of it find server regions.
3. Untick US and set to EU and RU only, if you are from Latin and Asian regions use SA too.
4. Save.
5. Select a Realistic game mode and play.
6. Optionally play with friends in squads.
7. Better yet join simulation games.

The reason why games on US servers are SO BAD is because it's a default server region so everyone new or lazy plays on it, it just also happens that all the bad players come from this region and use German tanks/planes the most in US setting because they are wanna-be nazis yet there's "patriots" who like US/UK tanks and are pretty much obliterated on the field against German hardware hence all the rage in forums. Most of my bad experience in this game comes from the US region and arcade gamemode honest, when I made the above changes this game is so much better to play and actually very fun. The realistic and even better simulation difficulty will weed out 99% of the negative players immediately as most campers and griefers aren't fit with skills for those, I actually saw several teamkillers try to take me out in Realistic mode on US region just because I was having a T34E and others used nazi tanks (I also saw a Sherman here and there) but unfortunate for them either I got them or my team mates helped. You may also not know but under server stats EU and particularly RU regions have way more players, so if you're into Simulation games that's the only place you can play them in without waiting over 5 mins in queue.

The ping may increase for you above 120 for EU/RU servers but the game is very much playable and best of all if you or anyone else tries to teamkill and spawn camp they get punished within 60 seconds by fairplay players thus a more tactical experience is present. I've seen people go in formations, actually communicate in the chat. As for VOIP still haven't heard anyone use it yet but hopes are up.

The Russian server has the most teamkillers of any of the other servers. I play on everything but RU and I rarely get TK'd or see TKers (Air RB).

Strange, for me RU has most players (tier 3 and 4) and I never have TK issues. Sometimes but rarely people pinch others with machineguns but that's it. I actually got towed when I flipped my tank on RU server, which is how I discovered you can actually tow tanks in this game lol.

selecting realistic gamemode is not gonna save you from bad players.no matter what server you select.trust me RB has some really bad players too.

Maybe, but in my case it helped A LOT. Specially on Simulation difficulty, sadly sim difficulty is very hard to get into as there's either lack of listed tanks for me or lack of players with planes.

General rule of thumb is that the more parameters people have to change to play the less bad community members will be in places where the changes are required.

Well I live in Western Australia and I get the best ping on the SA server (Only around 70), so it's definitely South Asia and most likely in Singapore.

SA is most-def South Asia because if it was South America, US would be NA for North America (as that's what it is, not just America)

The game has Japanese planes, MMOs are popular in Asia and even though Gaijin is a Russian indie studio the word Gaijin is Japanese, make sense why War Thunder would have a dedicated server for Asia.

Most obnoxious thing I saw was on a RU server. My friend was looking down a road in his tank shooting at enemies and one of our tanks (a Russian player if that is of any creedence) drove around him and parked in front of him blocking his shot on purpose so he could get a kill. My friend drove around the tank that drove around him and park in front of him and he got shot by an 85mm cannon from our "friend" on purpose.

Of course, it could be an isolated incident and I am sure there are tons of other stupid, atrocious players on any server, but that incident just soured the RU servers for me.

Yeah, I've been thinking about getting into SB tanks (primarily for tanks because I still suck at flying mouse-aim SB planes).

Yeah, I've been thinking about getting into SB tanks (primarily for tanks because I still suck at flying mouse-aim SB planes).

This is by far best tank game (talking about Simulation difficulty) I've played many simulators but this one really nails the specs for tanks on the hardest difficulty. I wish it had faction based cannon sights though.

Simulated battles with planes are good too, specially if you're playing with small planes as there's many factors to count in (wind, speed, temp, etc) but there are better sims out there for jets. Plane physics in this game are unmatched, I think Gaijin is behind the legendary IL2 Strumovik game, I'm not sure. War Thunder is awesome for what it is, for modern compat jets DCS World is unbeatable and for civil aircraft FSX specially with live ATC plugin (real ATC trainees use it)
