For jets in general, you need to stay fast. Above 800 km/h if you can, but for sure above 600 km/h. If you drop below that, you're an easy kill and you'll have trouble getting back up to speed.
F-80A is the first US jet most players who went down the tree will fly. Being a mid 40s design, it's very slow to accelerate off the ground. What I would do is try to side climb a bit. Once you're wheels and flaps up, level out and hit around 600-700 km/h (think that's around 350-400 kts) then pull up a bit to get a good climb, but keep it above 250 at minimum. Do it till you're at a comfortable altitude (usually that's 2500 to 3000m.) From there use your good traits to BnZ through opponents. Some you can outrun (262s, 229s), some you can out turn (MiG-9). Meeting props can be hard as they can keep up with you at this point, but accelerate much faster and turn better.
Sabers, these are BnZ machines primarily. The A Saber can use its superior speed against most of what it sees at 8.3. The F series sabers need to consider the situation more as at 8.7 they'll see supersonics way more, and advanced missiles. On a downtier they can get away with a lot. On an uptier they may play more of a support role, going after energy trapped supersonics or working for a good deflection shot.
F-84G is all about going fast in a straight line. It's all they really can do in game, even back in the day.
Can't say much about the sky knight. What I have seen is they're taken out easily. Perhaps playing it like a really big MiG-9 might help. That is do your inditial climb like the F-80, but just focus on fast straight line attacks.
Either way, general rule of thumb is to stay fast and don't get too caught up on dogfights.
