Thats cause you ended up shooting the length of that plate, like you hit it at a 99.99 degree angle
Take a peace of paper and look and see what is longer, the thickness of it or the length from the top to bottom
You ended up hitting that top to bottom with your round

At the top of the wheel well is a 25mm thick plate you are hitting said plate one its side and its 420mm thick + 80 from the side armor.

How? you're hitting a part of the vehicle that is 500mm thick. Look up an image of the Tiger 2 armor, There is Angled side armor and Strait Side armor, You are hitting the plate that connects the two that is 25mm thick and you are hitting on directly on the side.

as the game now has volumetric ammunition, it interprets that it is going through the entire length of the skirt which measures approx. 25 cm (maybe less cause the shot is on the top) / (as the barrel of the mg34 measures 67 cm), and according to the game calculator, the ammunition when going through the entire inclined light armor plate gives a value of +900 millimeters. This does not work like that in real life. Surely with the projectile touching the 5mm plate for a thousandth of a second it flies away and continues to pass through the 80mm armor. That is the theory
So, for much, 1,2 cm, not 9 cm

It looks like you were hit by heat or something, it failed to penetrate and you got lucky with the armour characteristics.

Okay you dont understand what plate you are actually hitting which is annoying because now I will create an Image account just to show you the plate you are hitting.

The outside 5mm Skirt is not what you are hitting.

There you go, You are hitting the 25mm thick plate that is at the top of the wheel well. Because you are hitting it on it side you are hitting its full width in addition to the 80mm plate.
