I don't think a single wehraboo even knew this tank existed until the announcement trailer dropped.

It’s not that obscure, it’s literally a panther prototype.

That implies they knew there was a prototype that looked and was built differently compared to the production panther.

Unless I am mistaken, its is not in fact a panther prototype.. it was an alternate design that was not choosen over the MAN version.. of the vk30's req..

i reckon you're thinking of the VK30.01/VK30.02D, which were the daimler benz submissions to the VK30 project - these were just knockoff T-34s. the VK30.01/VK30.02M *IS* the M.A.N. submission. the name tells you this - VK30.02M (30 tonne class, 2nd prototype, M.A.N.)

weren't the benz submissions over weight too or under powered, I remember there was some kind of major issue with the other panther submissions.

yep I just found the weight, it was 5 tonnes over the 30 ton weight goal.

well remember the tiger program was VK45, 45 tonne limit, and as u know the VK45.01(H) and (P) both weighed in at a fair bit over 50 tonnes.....

VK-30.01/2 (D) was more then a T-34 knock off. It borrowed design elements of both the T-34 and Pz-III/IV but would have been a better tank then both.

It was liked by Hitler and nearly put into production but was ultimately replaced by MAN's design because it was more "traditional" to German specifications with better crew accommodations, a better gun and the same engine as the tiger. However, it would have been faster, cheaper and easier to make then MAN's while still being far superior to the T-34 and even the KV-1.

disagree, vehicles that never saw combat shouldn't be techtree vehicles. I would be Ok for a premium prototype though.
You should really check history of military vehicles. Many, many of them never saw combat, yet were produced in hundreds or thousands.
With that "never saw combat" you just erased huge part of Swedish tech tree for example.
Same with many, many modern vehicles from Europe or Asia.

I'm obvioulsy talking about WWII, not cold era vehicles (remember when Liejin promised to never implement vehicles after 1953...or missiles ??)...

Vehicles that have been produced, adopted and deployed are obviously in the same category as "seen combat" (for WWII vehicles). (I've spent enough time in the military to actually know the difference between deployed and used vehicles during maneuvers and prototype ones)

But hey, you absoluetely MUST reply with something...right ? Even if it's cherry-picking and misses the point.

Wanting to remove vehicles because they didn't see combat would be horrible for the game and only worsen the lend lease problem. Almost Every country except America and the Soviets would have gaps of 4.3 or 6.0 to 8.0 or even 10.0. Even Germany would have a large gap after the Konigstiger until the Leopard 2A4.

did germany had a gap at 3.7 ?

answer: no

same for the new VK3002. It wasn't needed at all as germany doesn't have a 5.0 lineup, and the 5.3 lineup doesn't have any gaps anyway. It would have made the perfect premium (and I've might even bought it for the lulz), just like the T-126 is the perfect premium at 3.0 (prototype of the T-50).

anyway...
