It is for Sim Battles and somehow for Realistic Battles. But dont even think its fun in Arcade Battles. Realistic Battles are still better with a Mouse. And Sim is well...complicated. You need time to get used to it.

The worth comes from quite a number of detailed cockpits and their variety over the decades and nations. A few are visually first class, a lot are quite decently done but there are a lot of placeholders especially in bombers.
And there are these problems:
1. After you download you have only access to entry level vehicles, They are fun both planes and tanks (though tanks have no interior) but only in...
2. sim mode where everybody has to use cockpit view (or limited view)

in arcade or realistic you have the penalty if you stay in cockpit view. Virtual cockpit view is however usable in VR.

So it's great if you like to fly , like airplanes and vehicles and like to swivel your head around.
You can be competetive too but only in sim - IMO of course.

also - use throttle and stick
also tanks and ships can be fun too in realistic battles in VR.

1. I would only use it for sim
2. The screendoor effect is really bad on my (several years old) HTC Vive. All you can see at a distance is a black dot for friendlies and enemies.
3. It makes sim MUCH better when you can have a VR headset on, and a controller in hand. But getting both of these things set up can take 30 minutes.
4. I have perfect vision IRL, and it is extremely frustrating how pixelated and mushed everything is. It only improves when things are less than 100m away.
its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for tanks. your view moves with the hull not the turret so you cant do any sort of looking around and its impossible trying to move your tank and shoot any enemies to either side of your hull unless youre casemate. enemies are just dots in the distance since i have the first oculus to come out. its only really useful for planes and helis and even then planes are just dots in the distance until theyre shooting at you.

Sorry, I should mention I use a hp reverb g2 and graphics really maxed out at resolution and anti-aliasing etc and I indeed would not recommend less. That means it's you that is playing at a disadvantage because low graphics are not a feel good option either. You yourself at the finest possible graphics in VR are playing at a disadvantage because spotting can be really hard against background. The effect at max graphics is that the cockpits are fine but the enviroment, well, the resolutions needs to be doubled further to get rid off the effect of playing shortsighted. The grail is 8K+ in VR.

I love it. Seriously, its really awesome.
As people said, its only for air simulator battles, and there are no touch controls, so you need a joystick of some sort preferably with plenty of buttons as you be blind to your keyboard for obvious reasons.

That said, its the most populated air sim and has the greatest number of flyable planes out there, nowhere else you´ll get the thrill of dive bombing or fighting several fighters simultaneously.
