Learn what energy fighting is.
Learn about BFM/ACM.
What's boom & zoom vs. turn & burn, and when (with what planes against what other planes in what energy situations) to use what parts of those doctrines. Like don't turn & burn in an American plane against a Zero if you're slow (or the opposite) f.e..
Learn about the differences between planes. Speed in horizontal, speed in dive, turn rate (at different speeds), climb, guns, armor.
Get better situational awareness.
What are the differences between lead pursuit, lag pursuit & true pursuit?
And how do I use them to get in a good position?
Convergence. What is it? How far should I set it? How does gun positions influence convergence?
Don't follow the lemmings into the red furball.
Headons are bad, uhmkay?! Until you can't avoid it, have way more and bigger guns, and know how to do it.
Preserve your energy. Fight the fights you can't lose, while avoiding the fights you probably won't win in the end.
Spade your planes.
Train your crews.
Create lineups of the same BRs (mostly).
If you die, learn from your mistakes and try to avoid repeating them.
If you get a kill, try to figure out why you got it.
If you are killed time and time again, try to learn something from it, and try again.
It's just a game.
And no, you won't be a great dogfighter after 30 mins., or a week, or a year.
There are also a lot of YouTube videos out there that teach various aspects of virtual dogfighting or on specific planes.
Some are actually good. ;-)
There is also the air force academy section in the official forum with lots of tips, and where you can ask questions, and receive answers.
Use the mouse for aiming, and the keys for extreme maneuvers.
A joystick won't help you unless you play sim mode.
BR ?
Plane ?
AB / RB ?
before posting, please take the time to give a minimum of informations if you want to get some help.
Even if some of us are there since 2013 (before the release on steam), we're still not able to read minds...
so, because I don't have any informations, the best advice I can give you is:
- do not focus on getting kills, but on survival. A aggressive pilot is easy to defeat, a defensive one much harder. This means knowing when to disengage the fight.
- once you master ACM's, focus on gunnery. doing the opposite won't help as a dead pilot cannot get kills
- know your energy state (obviously it's less important in AB)
- know your plane and your enemies plane. Knowledge is power, and power is victory
+1.
why do people post here in forum with the intension to never come back again ??
i dont get it..
you wanna bet ?
Nah...not in this game you aint...
Im kidding ....i am kidding...Dont report me ok..
One of the best resources for learning how to fly. His last video was 4 years ago. Odds are what ever you are flying he has a video on it. Since it is advisable to begin with arcade where you get more then 1 chance per battle he is especially useful since he goes over each aircraft in detail and then demonstrates the most useful tactics for that aircraft.
You may be kidding, but you're not wrong.
(Reported, btw.)
Ahhh cmon.. not again :)
