Aircraft markers
Why do aircraft have markers in air realistic but not ground realistic?

Good question.
they shouldnt have in in air RB either..

Because tanks in ground rb also dont have markers, but friendlies do.

Why is that not the case in air RB then?

Been wondering that myself, makes Ground RB dogfights a lot more interesting. I guess in Air RB there's way too much space and without markers people might end up spending most of the match not engaging each other because they can't find each other to begin with.

Because in ground RB most pilots are focused on bombing tanks. Being able to tag helicopters more than anything, which tend to like camping a few KM's away outside the map would be a good way to deal with them, but alas, we don't have that.

Some go after planes assuming that they haven't slammed into the ground, and the rest just go to re-arm to bomb more tanks.

For a game that was "designed to be a combined arms game from the ground up" there seems to be a lot of things that planes can do, but tanks can't. A plane can strafe you and tag you momentarily on the enemy map, but hitting a plane doesn't tag it or mark it.

I don't have an opinion for Ground RB but I disagree with people saying Air RB shouldn't have them. Once furballs get going there'd be a lot of teamkilling, unless (like current Ground RB is) you kept markers for just friendlies. But then that would make the point moot since you'd simply know everything flying that isn't marked is the enemy.

UNLESS they made it like Sim Air, where (if I'm not mistaken? don't play it much, haven't in more than a year, because I don't have a flight setup) friendlies don't have a marker until they are within a certain distance.

It's not so much about identification as it is about awareness. In Ground RB you have to keep your eyes open for the slightest movement and keep track of enemy engine sound to get a rough direction of where they are. It makes for a really dynamic cat and mouse game sometimes and gives flying low to the ground a reward for the risk of getting shot by the ground units.

And then in Air RB the game just tells you "Hey, there's an enemy, go kill them." It also completely invalidates the charm of dark time of day fights because you can just follow the marker instead of having to keep an eye on the enemy's movement in the dark to lead your target.

Cause air RB maps are much much bigger, like over 4 times bigger

I find it funny that some don’t want markers but are cool with being able to hear an enemy plane while inside your own plane. I don’t care either way but don’t say it’s more dynamic if so it’s not much more. Don’t know if the devs have ever rode in a prop plane or not.

To take away aircraft markers in RB for props for be awful yes..
But for top tier jets in these small maps we have would be wonderful..
We have IFF let people use it..And their brain..

Imagine an RB match but with same conditions as SB matches..
omg that would be a wet dream

Well, there is always SB for that. It's just weird that two Realistic modes are subject to different conditions in this regard. They could make it so that they appear when someone hits an enemy plane, as well as give a dedicated scouting keybind for planes so it'd be more like allied planes relaying information to each other.

The might both be realistic modes but stills separate game modes. One with spawning, the other without. One with a large range where planes without nametags would be hard to find, the other with a small area where you expect the majority of air to be.
The only aircraft that are generally out of visual range at all times are rtb or usually being chased away from the battle.
While it doesnt make sense based on being a similar game mode(realistic) it makes perfect sense based on what actually happens in each mode.

i wouldn't say CAS needs air markers or what not however allow for the ability to spot planes within a range of say 1000m that way spaag's can maybe respond faster plus maybe the plane that gets spotted will have a lead marker as well at least within 600-800 meters but only for as long as the spot lasts.
