thats rough mate. more or less the same vibe im getting from customer service. I mean surely the information I have given should be enough, I was able to recall the last video card including the brand I was using, I was able to send a screenshot of my last GE purchase including what exactly it was spent on. Steam security is much tighter so the fact I have access to this should be plenty of proof. I won't let them off easily, I don't know if ill ever come back and play WT seriously again but its still my account, if I have to call them on the phone and be a prick to get someone on the other line who wants to do their job I'll take that route.
Sad to hear this might not be a 1 off though.
My profiles pretty advanced, like full british air tree including all the jets as of like a year ago, and 2 heavily advanced ground nation trees, but i guess because I never engaged with the Gaijin marketplace i never knew how deep the player to player economy actually was. I knew people would whale and buy premiums and boosters straight from the shop, but i had no idea the sideways trading was such a big part of it. Probably beccause im personally sickened by the idea of Gaijin charging $60 for a single premium vehicle lol. The one premium i own was bought at like 60% off or something and i still felt dirty.
They are literally forcing me to go back all the way to 2013 and include every single golden eagle purchase in a screen shot (despite the fact i already sent them all of 2020's purchases, which alone should be plenty of proof) and are forcing me to send a dxdiag report despite the fact I keep repeating that my current PC is brand new and has never played the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. so what good are the specs of this current machine? Its not like they can load up my PC history and be like "oh he was playing on a 3080ti in 2015, so it must be his account.
So for the lawls, heres an exact copy/paste of the original requested info.

Changed my positive review to negative. Keep in mind ive had this account since 2013 or earlier even, so asking for a complete list of all my steam nicknames, and the first PC graphics card I played the game on as the type of information they are demanding is a joke. Also never actually did anything through Gaijin entertainments portal, so they never had my phone number on record because my purchases and account were through steams interface.... Wouldn't recommend you spend money on this game if this is the type of support you can expect. An authenticator would stop your account from being stolen, but that doesnt make you immune to being wrongfully banned or anything else that would require you to chat in with these people.
The rest is actually easy.
And it sure ain't like 35 pieces of info.
lol. Except when you registered to War Thunder back in 2012/2013 you never received a registration link and they didn't start mass mailing out marketing material until late 2013/early 2014. So thanks for coming out but your comment is useless.
Very first email sent from Gaijin Entertainment OR War Thunder to the bulk of players on steam was Nov 13th, 2013 for the closed beta access to ground combat. Unless you registered through their site directly, you don't have a "your account is activated on this date" email. Any OG player can confirm this.
You registered through Steam?
Then finding out when is WAY easier than checking your email DB:
In Steam:
Click on the "Help" menu, then click on "Steam Support".
Select War Thunder.
In the info page, the purchase date is in the upper right.
You can also view your receipt via a click on "view receipt", showing you a transaction ID that Gaijin support would probably love to know.
Any Steam user can use and confirm this.
But beware, if you registered to WT before it was on Steam, your Steam "purchase date" WON'T be your registration date.
Then you'd have to check your email DB.
Alrighty, well that was a useful follow up, appreciate the time taking to type that out, I was searching under the wallets tab, never had to use steam support tab before. Though its super funny to me that Gaijin support wasn't able to provide that answer. Though it would appear the date listed in my Steam Support tab is linked to my first golden eagles purchase as it was in 2014 and not when i started playing before that. But hell, they might even accept that as an answer. lol.
So follow up and conclusion here. It took 14 days, 35 emails, 2 email accounts, 2 gaijin support tickets, 15 screenshots and me getting frustrated and swearing in the email but i FINALLY have the account back. Obviously the authenticator has been installed and added and I of course went through and changed passwords and emails.
Now the interesting thing is when I logged in, I obviously had no GE (which i probably would of had like 400 before i stopped playing if i had to guess). And my silver lions were like sub 100k tops. However, some dude played like 80 games on the account, unlocked the Maus (i had put 1 game into the research last time they added it back for a short time), 2 of the german higher tier light tanks and the first 2 leopards. All grinded out and purchased, when i stopped playing my highest vehicle in that tree was the 2nd tiger 2. I have a bunch of new titles and achievements related to the german tree.
So i guess net positive overall? The real question is what the hell actually happened. Original hack was in Russia, then i had muiltiple logins from the USA. Now obviously VPNs are a thing so thats only so reliable, but i find it really wierd someone steals the account, uses the GE purchases (even if stolen credit cards for example) and then uses it to speed unlock 3-5 new vehicles in the 2 days the account was active. Makes me wonder if whoever originally hacked it sold the account to some dumb ass who bought it and then got locked out after i contacted support. As far as i can tell theres no way to check what exactly the GE was spent on, but it HAD to have been accelerating the research, there just isnt enough games played for it to have been anything else.
I did not ask them to roll back the changes because based on my expirence I sincerely doubt they have the tools to undo anything. So i guess if I do ever play again, going to need to grind some low tier for cash lol.
I feel like that's exactly the sort of thing a Swedish or German person might do for fun.
