VFW flak rounds
Is there any way to actually kill planes with the VFW's flak rounds?

That's stupid.

The VFW was originally designed to be a tank destroyer, it wasn't until part-way through its development that it was considered to serve in the anti-aircraft role. There's no reason it wouldn't have been issued the PzGr and it would be utterly useless if given only the Flak, requiring it to be brought down in BRs considerably to make up for the abysmal performance of the round.

seeing as it was a flak vehicle by the end of its prototyping run and was mounted with a FlaK L/71 There isnt much in the way of reason to give it PzGr 39/40 Either. I'd have no problem with it being 3.3 if it only had its Flak shell, because then its not disgustingly Overpowered.
You are right, but looking it up it should be able to use the PzGr 39-1 APHEBC. The thing is, the PzGr 39/43 in-game is already identical in all areas except weight to the PzGr 39-1, both have 64 grams of filler and go 980 m/s. The increased weight makes its penetration even higher according to the penetration calculator, now penetrating 231 mm instead of 230 mm.

The PzGr 40/43 is also wrong, it should just be a PzGr 40 but the only difference between the two is the name. Thanks for bringing attention to the errors in the ammunition choices.

These guns were multi-purpose. Provided they had the necessary logistical support, these guns would have whatever ammo was available that fit the tactical situation/role they were assigned at the time.

It was assigned to the 23rd Flak Battalion in Italy, and from what i can find was only ever issued Flak rounds.

The VFW that saw combat isn't in game, it was fitted with a FlaK 37 rather than a FlaK 41.
