I think that WRF would be an amazing map for a FPS such as Insurgency Sandstorm or the good old rainbow six (not siege), but for vehicles it's a pretty bad map and a bad place in general, even in a game like battlefield or Squad using large maps, I would avoid this location with vehicles at all.
And so, for you what is a "good" map design?
Certainly a short, flat, no tree & no vegetation map.
And with some unarmed bots in front of you.
I will tell what is the real issue in War Thunder : some "players", who just never are happy.
You remind me some of those same "players" in PUBG : they only play ONE map, they cry for having new maps.
And when they have new maps, they are never happy.
Because for 2 reasons :
1- some of new maps are too similar to the original main map, so they cry.
2- some are really different & are requiring people to adapt themselves, so they cry.
In War Thunder, you will have lot of different maps.
Small, medium, large.
Some with open spaces, others with lot of vegetation / rocks / hills / flat zones & others with city environnement.
Of course, you will have the possibility to meet some environnements that suit really perfectly YOUR way of playing such a game.
And of course, you will ALSO have some maps that will require for you more effort because they are quite different than what you would expect / than that you are used to play usually.
Why just don't enjoy the stuff?
Why don't you just accept the "challenge" to adapt yourself?
Is it so hard for people?
Apparently, it is...
Now I know why I had to click " Show comment " before reading your post. lol.
That's the worst map :-P That's a battleship's wet dream map.
Tanks simply perform at long distance though.
Karelia: "Hold my Vodka"
Tanks simply don't perform at long distance though... The average tank in the ww2 was rather useless beyond 2km due to how unreliable it was to hit the target or to even inflict any damage to the target.
2 km is quite a distance, especially if you look at War Thunder maps.
I sniped with the M4 so many times and avoiding urban areas always helped me to survive.
