But the balance of good vs bad is far worse in WoT.
- It gives me satisfaction watching heavy tracked vehicles plough through mud and other terrain
- No other game lets me solo queue the Type 87 and put Caramelldansen Eurobeat Remix on repeat and just- just enjoy really.
shoot a pz4h in the side and cause no serious harm.
really its just a difference in the shells between the sherman and pz4h, but it can be a bit frustrating
Spawn campers aren't quite as common as you make them seem (or I've just had a lack of them for some reason), and by that I mean the ones that ignore the game and go purely for the spawn every single match. Spawn camping as a team happens when the camped team gets wiped for the most part, which makes sense and is not scummy, unless you are someone who believes in "honor" and wishes for your team to lay down their arms and die to give the other team a chance after they messed up.
Volumetric shells are utterly broken however. The idea is good on paper. It would be nice if players couldn't laser-shot weakspots like you're playing laser tag rather than firing gigantic high calibre rounds. However it's also responsible for the disappearing shells. If anything overlaps, be it the tracks, the dust covers, a construction box, or any number of small and realistically insignificant barriers the shell can sometime just disappear. This is a bug that gaijin still hasn't fixed, and I'm beginning to suspect it may even be inherent to the mechanics of how volumetric shells are processed. Definitely a massive issue as you have pointed out.
the br compression has been getting worse and worse as more new vehicles are added. Below tier IV it's mostly fine. Some of the new vehicle spams are pretty obnoxious but for the most part it's just the same as it's always been the last few years. Top tier is intentionally designed to be a frustrating experience to exploit your wallet and convince you to shill out for the best vehicles available in the tree. Uptiers however I find to be luck and popularity based (brs with more popular vehicles will drag other nearby brs into those matches more often). It's probably mostly placebo on your part though. I've seen players who have statistically tracked the top br in their games and haven't found any patterns.
Maps are definitely getting worse. No doubt about it
I've never seen people shoot through the edge of rocks, but there are many buildings throughout the game that don't block certain rounds because they're made of wood or other weak building materials. It's a brutal learning curve I agree but it's not a flaw with the game's mechanics. And what do you expect from the community? The game is designed to incentivise player selfishness. Rewards for team caps have been lowered, the rewards for assisting teammates and being a good sport are either miniscule or non-existent. And worst of all, Gaijin just changed how the spawns work, allowing enemy tanks to drive into the spawn without being destroyed by a timer like they used to be.
The economy is brutal, forcing you to resort to more extreme tactics in order to make profits the higher you go.
Once you reach a certain skill level you'll be able to play the game pretty well without all the camping and "exploits", but most players will have realised the most efficient way to get past the grind is to "play dirty". I've seen many spawn campers on these forums that say stuff like "well regardless of how you feel about it, spawn camping is a successful tactic in this game, I'd have to be crazy not to take advantage of it". And in a way they're right, it really is the fault of the developers for failing to prevent spawn camping from being a viable solution that this problem exists at all.
It's because of the climate of a F2P model system. As developers for F2P games, you will get taught what features to prioritise - new mechanics and models, new updates and imbalances that encourage paying money. It's not as bad as the mobile industry, that only cares about creating an addictive game loop that incentivises you to pay, but it's still pretty despicable. This is the reality of most F2P games, and it's past the point where any rational person would hope for a sudden change to big improvement to the game design philosophy. It has gotten to the point where - if you can't handle the problems with the game, don't play it. And if you have any ethical problems with the way this game is being designed to focus on money over players, don't play it either. I myself have considered dropping this game entirely multiple times. Guess I'm still playing it because I enjoy the gameplay loop.
I hope this response was somewhat educational for you
I've been playing shermans recently as well and had no troubles penning Pz4s. Statistically the long 75 and the American 75 have very similar post-pen damage effects, so this is most likely a you problem
No other game gives all the vehicles, some are uniques to this game (i mean you will never see them in any other video game (or that will be very rare)
As far as game play experience is concerned, good times are rare. It's 50/50 to get a good fun even game. Match ups are generally poor.
I find myself quitting out more often than playing these days due to boring maps or clearly one-sided games.
