AMX-30 DCA
How is the performance of the AMX-30 DCA for downing aircraft and helicopters? I think I will need some protection from air in 8.3 though my tanks have been faring alright at 8.3.

It's among the best SPAA of that kind (radar + cannons, no missiles), if not THE best. It isn't necessarily the most lethal against air targets (only 2 guns and no proximity fuse), but its firepower is still sufficient and it has a very good combination of all other parameters that matter.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I will go learn as to how to use it including the radar. I have no experience with radar-directed SPAAGs at this point.

AMX-30 DCA is reasonably good. It's got a 360 radar and an APDS belt like the Falcon in the British tree.

It's very simple.

You look in the direction of the aircraft, you press the button you have assigned to lock the target, then depending on their trajectory, you aim in or around the leading indicator circle.

If they are climbing - you aim below it.
If they are diving - you aim in front of it.
If they are flying at you - you aim in the circle.

Have fun shooting down aircraft. :The_Slayer:

It's very good, probably my favorite SPAA in the game. It only has one radar that searches and tracks so it can be a bit easy to tunnel vision on planes if you focus too much on the radar.

Thanks. Saving this down. And will try it in test drive. I am researching it now.
