Help with landing on carriers.
anyone know have to land on carriers? I keep missing the wire and the only way that I can actually land is forcing me plane into the deck breaking the ladning gear. every other time I just go above the wire.

1. you cant land a B-29 on a ship it is literally called the "Super Fortress" it's huge
2. I am talking about jets. I cant figure out how to get the hook low enough to touch the wire.

The main question is... What plane were you using? Follow up question is what speed were you going when you're trying a landing?

war thunder actually has a wire/plane catapult?, I always just did the opposite of what is safe and cut the engines and touch down on the runway going 120km or less, in real life this isn't such a great idea and it is recommended to keep enough energy to re-take off in case you over shoot the wire and go off the runway, then take another pass and try again.

Mode matters too, I think. Sim landings are, IMO harder than RB.

What impresses me is the way he lands it, because I think a crash landing is fairly achievable for most of us. Also, the bloopers/outtakes at the end made the whole thing worth the watch. :steamhappy:

Now I am going to land the BV-238 on an aircraft carrier.

Smigol vids are a great way to remind oneself that we're playing a silly video game and can do gamer things.

Use practice flight if you don't want to watch guides. Even airplanes not meant to land on carriers can do that if you can achieve the right speed at the moment of touchdown.
Spicy Meatball Dec 4, 2021 @ 4:46pm
You need to approach at a high AoA while losing alt. On approach, throttle down until your speed is low enough that the plane cannot maintain level flight, and descends slightly. Maintain this new speed. The speed differs depending on whether or not you've deployed your flaps, your ordnance, your fuel load, and any battle damage you may have.

realistically the only non carrier based plane you should be landing on carriers is biplanes as you can go at pretty low speeds and still maintain atleats a slow fall speed

uuhhh, huh? you realise that due to the fact that planes have a fail fin, rudder, and wings pulling up, will make me go up thus pull me farther away from the wire disabling me from actually catching it. don't say go a slower speed cause you need a lot of speed. if you miss the wire and you're going slow then you are gonna just go straight into the water. if you are going fast and miss the wire then you can just pull up and go back around for another attempt.
FizzyElf Dec 4, 2021 @ 9:00pm
What is a fail fin?, also they mean when you are below lift speed for most jets its 200ish km/h if you pull up during this time with the engine off it will create a ton of drag which should slow you down enough to stop, also wiggle your tail controls (all of them) this will cause you to slide back and forth and increase your ability to slow down.
