why do tanks take no damage in weak points?

i shoot the engine area.. 5 damage
i shoot the view windows... 5 damage
i shoot the side weak spots... 5 damage
where else am i supposed to shoot?

idk man i shoot every weak point i see and it just does nothing expect when it just randomly one shots them when i didn't do anything different

War Thunder hasn't got hit points, it is that other tank game that has hit points.

There are no cheats that can prevent you from taking damage in War Thunder.

You need to kill the crew or blow the tank up, shooting the same spot over and over won't get you anywhere. Kill the turret crew (gunner) first so they can't shoot back, then the crew in the hull.

Also make sure to use the right ammo.

The ammo with the most pen may not be the best.

If you kill the engine 5 times (and don't set it on fire) then you just did that:
You killed the engine 5 times

If you don't kill crew members, set the tank on fire, or best, hit the ammo, you've done near to no (big) damage to a tank.
You probably just disabled single modules (multiple times).

And the numbers that pop up are probably RP & SL you earned for the hit.
5 RP and/or SL earned means you pretty much did jack fertilizer.

Shooting the engine over and over will only keep destroying the engine. You need to kill the crew to eliminate the tank. Shoot for crew members, or destroy/detonate the ammo in the tank. From the engine, you're only real hope is to light it on fire and let it burn to death.
