Report a translation problem
As silly as this may sound but I wouldn't mind reading the exact reasons WHY I was reported because I would really like to know.
Would it maybe be an idea to show players the anonymized (so I cannot know who reported me) reasons that were given? What I mean is the actual text in the text window in which you can type what caused you to report a player because unfortunately I wouldn't know how to "improve" my behaviour if I don't even know what made players report me.
The only reason I can think of right now is leaving my Russian named squadron if this is actually what caused people to report me but honestly if that is the reason then we have a much bigger problem here at hand that will not simply be solved by me joining an English named squadron.
That is my theory right now but I honestly have nothing to confirm that at the moment but it would make sense especially regarding all the hate threads that have popped up even in the steam forums recently.
The thing is that I have played this game for years at this point and I have NEVER gotten that message before but now suddenly 2-3 weeks after you know what event I mean I suddenly get this message? Sounds like too much of a coincidence to me.
Nope. I try to stay out of politics completely in this game. I am not using any decals at all except the Samurai decal on my M24. Certainly no flags of any country or markings.
I do however have the Russian / Soviet related secret service / secret police squadron name attached to my name as I mentioned in my original post which so far is my only theory that I have for players suddenly mass reporting me.
I am trying to figure out if for the past year or so I have been slowly accumulating for example 8/10 reports for whatever reason and now someone simply filed 2 more complaints against me in the past few weeks which made it hit the 10/10 limit.
Or do they expire after X amount of time and all of those 10 complaints are really from just the past few weeks for example?
While that information still wouldn't help me figure out what caused players to report me it would at least help me figure out if I have been mass reported in the past few weeks or if this is totally unrelated to recent events and I merely slowly accumulated them over a long time from long before this whole thing.
Also now that you mention it I do know for a fact as well that some players have reported me for absolute bogus reasons in the past.
I even made a thread about it once maybe like half a year ago because one person messaged me after a match with something ridiculous like "reported invisible cheater". Apparently he thought I was using an "invisible hack"...
Do you think that this ridiculous report from like half a year ago did also count towards those 10/10 complaints or has that one already expired?
Edit: Thread I made back then:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/236390/discussions/0/4521040918055198058/
The amount of people saying -reported for spawncamping/killstealing etc which neither is a reason to do so, then all those people who dont understand the game and call half the people they see cheaters/reported.
There is no prerequisite to be able to report, just the ability to click a button/write a handful of words. The automated system treats them all the same.
Now i dont know if they track ips etc for reports these days, but awhile back people made multiple accounts to report a single person many times. Whether it worked or not i dont know.
Only you know your behaviour fully, if you dont think you have reason to worry or are surprised at it, just message support for clarification etc, they may be able to help.
But people seem to be getting saltier, and crying over nothing more/making up random conspiracies to believe. Wouldnt be surprised if half the reports, or more, were just malicious/uninformed.
That being said i have tkd, have said things i shouldnt in chat(nothing major) etc, had many abuse me/called me a cheater on occasion. Never had a chatban or popup warning. So either you got unlucky.
If chat was still up i wouldve said maybe you said something you dont find offensive and others do. Not always to know what is a common offensive term to some people if you arent part of that world yourself.
Still maybe worth a quick msg to support just so they review it and know it was unwarranted, so if anything happens further down the line they dont add this current issue to your list of offences if theres anything else they think needs action later on.
That's why I am considering maybe leaving the Russian squadron because it is the only reason that I can think of at the moment. Especially considering that in my years of playing this game I just happen to now get a "warning" out of nowhere for no apparent reason to the best of my knowledge.
I've seen a lot of Russophobia and anti-Russian sentiment in the steam reviews, steam discussions and in-game recently from this community and I wouldn't be surprised at all if some of these same "people" now slowly start spamming false reports against anyone with Russian related names / squadrons.
I doubt that the support would be able to help me to be honest and I highly doubt that they would clear fake reports filed against me. It isn't the first time after all as I mentioned in the linked thread from half a year ago.
The best I can do is figure out the reason to prevent not having dozens of more reports filed against me because as you mentioned I wouldn't rule out that further down the line the next time someone files a faulty cheat report against me or something like that it might not reflect well if there are hundreds of fake "abuse" complaints somewhere in the history log of my account.
I just find it preposterous that the game throws a "warning" like this in my face telling me to stop being "abusive" when ironically I am the one being griefed by other players who abuse the report function for their own personal ulterior motives.
Anyway I doubt I'll get more out of this thread at this point but thank you for everyone for participated so far.
I'm gonna leave the squadron and try to find a new one and hopefully I won't see this message again in the next year or so.
As stated numerous times, we do not have any auto-ban functionality connected to number of reports (so there is no option someone get auto banned just because other people decided to mass report him).
If you did nothing wrong in game, you are safe. If someone is abusing reports, he will be punished.
No. This thread was purely about me trying to figure out why people are suddenly filing mass reports against me when I cannot possibly think of anything that I have done wrong in the past few weeks or even months (let alone 10 times).
Your post however does proof my point that some people have completely lost their minds and become hysterically obsessed with trying to politicize everything. I am just trying to play a game that I enjoy and keep politics out of it.
@CyberStonka
I hope that you will stand by that statement in the future because frankly speaking even though my conscience is perfectly clear in terms of how I behave in this game I cannot say in all honestly that I am not at least a little worried now about my account after having a message like that pop up when I start my game.
If I get into a situation in the future where I have to explain one of my actions I certainly don't wanna read about how my account has a long history of many reports for "abusive behaviour" and that I was "warned". I really cannot think of even a single action in recent weeks or months that would have been reportable or against the TOS.
@Moderators
Probably best to lock this thread, thank you.
