War Thunder is not a team game
you may play on a "team" but war thunder is not a teamwork based game, its dog eat dog game play, teams are only there to denote who you can kill for profit and who you cannot. for example; you can kite enemies and it is highly likely no one on your team will help you but rather rabidly hunt for an enemy already engaged by multiple friendly players. another example is you are fighting an enemy and have got into the perfect position to execute but a vulture of a team member swoops in and takes the kill while ignoring the multiple enemies heading to kill you, you are then either intercepted by an enemy or try to fight off multiple enemies while the vulture flies away unharmed. while i accept you cannot expect team members to be there to help you, its would be nice that players start looking out for one another. I think the main reason players just play like vultures is the horrid grind and lack of rewards for helping team mates, besides the fact that helping team mates increase chance of victory, if the grind wasn't so bad maybe players who be relaxed enough to try to play as a team.
I hope this helps players think more about ways to improve the game

To be fair, few F2Ps in this genre are geared to reward teamplay. They prefer to encourage and award mass solo play. For reasons.

WT is a very "loosely" based team game. The random nature of being placed with competent teams or not dictates whether team play is evident.

Two things usually people keep in mind is:
- I won't help them repair or throw smoke, 'cos I'll get killed instead.
- Get out of my way, I'm gonna kill that tank.
- I'm too busy looking out for tanks to kill, so I cannot really be bothered about helping you.

When things are so expensive, and you get virtually nothing for helping out, then minding your own business is a good strategy to save money.

About the repair part, how do you get the prompt to appear?
Had so many situations where i'm in Tiger, Panther or Waffenträger and getting close to teammate to help repairing but the prompt just won't show up.
Or can you only help repairing if driving a light tank?

Sort of yes sort of no.

War Thunder is a game where team play is extremely powerful.

It's also a game where team play is very unlikely outside of pre-formed squads probably using out-of-game communications.

I believe you can only help if driving a light tank or if you're squadded with them (including randomly-assigned squadmates for solos).

Just yesterday a teammate's M22 tipped over on its head, two other tanks and myself spent a good 5-6 min pushing the fallen tank until it was back on its tracks, thats great teamwork imo. i always try to pop smoke and help fellow tanks that are damaged to repair. Its infectious as i find people start paying it forward. Could be that people get too used to playing Rust i guess so they bring the mentality here

Me: sitting in Waffenträger, aiming at enemy, about to pull the trigger to get that kill
Teammate: perfect time to ram that waffenträger!

other game:
Me: in Waffenträger - only shoot if kill and don't move because enemy cas and bomb hurts
Teammate: let's drive right next to that waffenträger and fire the guns so the CAS will know where we are
Guess who died from CAS bomb, hint: it wasn't the teammate

ngl, teammates are the worst enemies...
I try to stay as far away from them as possible.

On rare occasions I've bumped into competent players where teamwork was possible. Definitely not the typical, random, player - and I don't encounter such players often.

As for helping a teammate, sure - I'll do it; but only if helping will improve the team's/my chances for a victory; and it won't expose me to being killed.

No way will I join with 2+ other tanks to upright an unfortunate teammate. Having 3-4 tanks all clustered together is an open invitation to have CAS pay them a visit - and the outcome is seldom good. I'd rather write off the one tank than lose 3-4 more.

The game itself is very much a team game. In fact teamwork is paramount to winning a match. There were so many games where the odds were against us, but we managed to pull a win thanks to teamwork. And the opposite is true, lack of teamwork could cost you losing an otherwise guaranteed win, I had many 1v4 air rb games and I won only because they allowed me to pick them off one by one, not because I'm some outstanding players, I'm barely average.

That said, everything you mentioned is indeed true, but it's because those players are idiots. You feel the game incentivizes players to play like that, which while there's definitely some truth to that given the game is f2p, I'm positive most of them would still play like that regardless.

The priority of my play style (I only play air rb) is survival > winning > kills. And even though I'm only an ok player who never put any money on the game, I don't share the "suffering" people keep complaining about, I have millions of SL and many high tier planes. I don't deny the game is grindy af tho, but it's f2p what do you expext.

That play style can still net you a decent amount of kills from time to time, you just need patience and a bit of luck. The perfect recipe for getting lots of kills though is to be in a game where both teams are terrible. I literally had two recent air rb matches with 7 and 8 kills and nothing I did was exceptionally good that an average player can't do, everyone was just bad, playing at 3.0 definitely had something to do with it.

Not to offend, but did nobody of you use brain, logic and common sense? It takes not even 30 seconds to get a Tank back on its tracks. If you want to pull a square from the right side, and put your winch on the right, you will just drag it - if you instead put your winch on the top left side, and pull to the right it will just take a couple of seconds and its flipped

Squads , play in squads if you want team work, your problem easy solution.
WEETREAT 27 fev. 2022 às 6:32
scouting is pretty much the only way to get "team" work

ha its not my problem, yes squads make it better but i am sure you have seen teams seemingly go out of their way to loose a battle. I have always played solo and have done well but i would like gaijin to introduce a pre battle briefing to help coordinate the team before the battle begins

If your are not too bright, narcissitic and short sighted. Then you are correct this is not a team game and the previous list is all too common for players of a random teams. That's why most MOP's offer it as another choice or allow group formations to facilitate some level.
How ever let me be clear I don't hesitate to swoop in myself when ever I have watched 1-3 noobs trying to kill one plane and just idiotically spraying and praying and not be able to kill the damn enemy. Sorry but it gets too painful to watch sometimes and I'm forced to put an end to it.
