- I won't help them repair or throw smoke, 'cos I'll get killed instead.
- Get out of my way, I'm gonna kill that tank.
- I'm too busy looking out for tanks to kill, so I cannot really be bothered about helping you.
When things are so expensive, and you get virtually nothing for helping out, then minding your own business is a good strategy to save money.
About the repair part, how do you get the prompt to appear?
Had so many situations where i'm in Tiger, Panther or Waffenträger and getting close to teammate to help repairing but the prompt just won't show up.
Or can you only help repairing if driving a light tank?
War Thunder is a game where team play is extremely powerful.
It's also a game where team play is very unlikely outside of pre-formed squads probably using out-of-game communications.
I believe you can only help if driving a light tank or if you're squadded with them (including randomly-assigned squadmates for solos).
Teammate: perfect time to ram that waffenträger!
other game:
Me: in Waffenträger - only shoot if kill and don't move because enemy cas and bomb hurts
Teammate: let's drive right next to that waffenträger and fire the guns so the CAS will know where we are
Guess who died from CAS bomb, hint: it wasn't the teammate
ngl, teammates are the worst enemies...
I try to stay as far away from them as possible.
As for helping a teammate, sure - I'll do it; but only if helping will improve the team's/my chances for a victory; and it won't expose me to being killed.
No way will I join with 2+ other tanks to upright an unfortunate teammate. Having 3-4 tanks all clustered together is an open invitation to have CAS pay them a visit - and the outcome is seldom good. I'd rather write off the one tank than lose 3-4 more.
That said, everything you mentioned is indeed true, but it's because those players are idiots. You feel the game incentivizes players to play like that, which while there's definitely some truth to that given the game is f2p, I'm positive most of them would still play like that regardless.
The priority of my play style (I only play air rb) is survival > winning > kills. And even though I'm only an ok player who never put any money on the game, I don't share the "suffering" people keep complaining about, I have millions of SL and many high tier planes. I don't deny the game is grindy af tho, but it's f2p what do you expext.
That play style can still net you a decent amount of kills from time to time, you just need patience and a bit of luck. The perfect recipe for getting lots of kills though is to be in a game where both teams are terrible. I literally had two recent air rb matches with 7 and 8 kills and nothing I did was exceptionally good that an average player can't do, everyone was just bad, playing at 3.0 definitely had something to do with it.
Not to offend, but did nobody of you use brain, logic and common sense? It takes not even 30 seconds to get a Tank back on its tracks. If you want to pull a square from the right side, and put your winch on the right, you will just drag it - if you instead put your winch on the top left side, and pull to the right it will just take a couple of seconds and its flipped
How ever let me be clear I don't hesitate to swoop in myself when ever I have watched 1-3 noobs trying to kill one plane and just idiotically spraying and praying and not be able to kill the damn enemy. Sorry but it gets too painful to watch sometimes and I'm forced to put an end to it.
