Seems pretty fair to me.
Hi,
Yes, pricing is a big problem with this game. But there are always some silly people (such as myself) who put a lot of money in to this game. All I can say is that I always regret investing money in to this game as non of the premium vehicles is worth the money it costs, unless you buy some low to medium tier vehicle for 10 or 15 euros.
My advise, don't invest money in to this game unless you are 100% sure it will increase your fun for a long time and if you do, stick with this one investment, don't go on and buy more and more and more.
I don't even want to know how much money I wasted on this game, considering I have at least 2 top tier premiums for each nation at least and a few on the side, it certainly is several hundreds already, if not a 1000 bucks. Way too much.
Big regret.
When you compare it to other aircraft SIM games, $60 is kind of a steal.
DCS for instance charges you $80 for the A-10C, plus an additional $20 for the "complete" package for the aircraft. Naturally, DCS offers a very difference experience than what War Thunder offers, but if you want more than the A-10C for your $100, you need to pony up anywhere from $50-$120 for their complete packages per aircraft. You'll easily get hundreds of hours out of your $100, don't get me wrong, but you still only get the one thing. Plus, if you want to have a good DCS experience, you need a good HOTAS set up with headtracking/vr, and foot pedals (which gets up to $600+ in hardware).
War Thunder potentially grants you access to a helluva lot more for your $60 if you purchase that to grind out a tech tree, especially when you look at Premium Time as a subscription fee to grant that access quicker.
I do wish they tweaked the grind a bit to make it a lot more casual player friendly and it's the one thing that prevents me from recommending the game to friends, but the grind is what keeps Gaijin's servers running.
60 Dollars is the price for a triple AAA title, literally a full game. Just saying.
If I buy a premium, I get just that, a vehicle and a game in which I have to unlock everything still, with a long grind, still.
It's overpriced and a complete rip off.
I pondered on getting the A-10 myself but I stepped back and I thought to myself why would I get this when I have the A-10C II for DCS? I personally don't really see much value. War Thunder doesn't hold a candle to DCS.
I miss the DreamFleet Piper Dakota.
While I agree with this strategy I still think that the top tier vehicles are still over priced. Everyone has their price and sale prices for top tier bundles are still too high.
The plane itself is actually about 37€, you have to account for the Golden Eagles and Premium Time you get as well, still quite a price I agree
Thing is you can't choose, you are forced to buy the premium time and golden eagles with the plane..and as you said even 37 euros is too high.
I honestly wonder the number of people that would be willing to buy A LOT more premiums if they were reasonably priced, I know I'm not the only one on that line:
A10 and F5-C: Want both of those, won't get any
Ka50: Love how that thing looks, won't get it
Rooikat 105: Same, love it, won't get it
And the same goes for the Sea Vixen, Kisarazu, Type 74 and a lot more... I'm for sure would buy at least a couple premiums on each nation if it was not for their price and the absurd grind
