EDIT: I'm not sure but I heard air tree is a lot easier to grind so I may just be overbearing
Really high firerates
Large ammo pools
Good missiles when you get to later jets
Able to bring relatively large amounts of those missiles
Lots of CAS capabilities on their fighters
US air tree weaknesses:
Poor maneuvrability
While the guns have good firerates and lots of ammo, they are usually relatively low caliber for the br, so don't expect to blow a wing off with a short burst
USSR air tree strengths:
Powerful cannons, sometimes it even feels excessive
Relatively good missiles when you get to later jets, though worse than the American missiles
Relatively good maneuvrability, not god tier dogfighters like a spit or zero, but you'll have no trouble out turning yanks and FW-190's
USSR air tree weaknesses:
Tiny ammo pools, expect only a few hundred rounds for all guns combined on most planes, missing isn't something you can do with these planes
Much less CAS capabilities on their fighters, the soviet designed their planes around a "fighter is fighter, not bomber, bomber is bomber, not fighter" mindset and it really shows
Personally I prefer the US air tree, though I enjoyed the ITP M-1 a lot when I flew it. If you're good enough to get yourself on the enemy's tail, give yourself an easy-ish shot and then not botch that shot, the soviets will be great fun, because watching an enemy crumble and shatter after being hit by only a few rounds is so satisfying, but if you're less sure about your aim and prefer boom'n'zoom tactics, get ready to drop some napalm, because it's the US air force for you
