because reward multipliers increase in parallel with it.

Oh, 1000 sl repair costs being expensive? Ever seen the repair costs of bombers for realistic and sim battles?

Well, first thing why they are getting more expensive is the fact that they have better multipliers for sl and rp earnings.
Then some planes are incredibly expensive cause they either perform well (high risk, high reward) and such often being avoided which reduces spamming them.
And then there are planes/tanks/ships that are expensive because gaijin logic

because it makes you want to spend money.

Not true, i have 91Million sl, i even make profit playing toptier, this without premium.
My premium expired long time ago.
People need to not rush trought tiers, stay at low confortable tiers to buildup strong sl economy 1st.
I play for 8 years, 4 years at low cheap tiers and the other 4 proceeded to toptiers...
People as soon unlock new veicule, buy and keep advancing as soon new veicules are unlocked, the end result will be bankrupt.

8 years for the grind doesn't sound much of a profit.

While high tier is more expensive, but it goes evenly with the grind. So by the time you have researched a tank you should have enough silver to purchase it. With only thing slowing you down is simultaniously researching helicopters or jets.

While in low tiers you progress faster through research then what you are earning. In US faction you can easily avoid this by ignoring medium tank line completely and only crew train tanks you want to use in your lineup.

I find grinding of silver to be easier higher up in the ranks. You simply need to use BR in which your faction has the advantage.
6 nations with tier7 mbts and another 5 nations with jets tier5....
Veicules cost sl, i have good amount of them.

I suspect that the primary reason higher tiers cost more - in every way - is that Gaijin understands player psychology better than most players understand themselves; and, imo, their decision to make higher tiers more expensive to play (in nearly every respect) is, pure and simple: a business decision related to generating the most cash flow.

While such things can cause some to grind their teeth, it makes make perfect business sense to produce the max. cash flow. They'll do whatever the market will bear; and so would any of us if we were in their shoes.

Wait till you get the B-29, that costs 44,000 to repair

To be fair, we should look at the SL multiplier of the vehicle OP is talking of. Many rank 2 vehicles have a pretty low SL multiplier, so a 1000 SL repair cost can be bad for an average player.

Hey, it's higher than Rank 1, which is obviously what he meant. No need to rank-shame new players.

+1, aside from the last bit; if they are making half the profit I suspect they do, then I'd personally be embarrassed to sell any one vehicle for $50--or more.

In theory, they should, but they don't.

Because Gaijin's way of thinking is, if this guy has endured so much, and did not rage quit and go play something else, then we can most likely push him to spend money on the game out of frustration.
That, in a nutshell, is this game's business model.

To represent the fact that more advanced machinery was more difficult and costly to repair IRL.

From a business standpoint, yes.

From a realistic standpoint, probably also yes
