They probably were newbies.
No clue at all, no idea how to talk in chat (or didn't want to).
Or they actually were bots.
But not bots programmed by the snail, but by users.
There has been talk I've seen on the official forum on bots flying bombers in sim battles.
Maybe those bot programmers now try their hand on creating bots for GF battles too?
I don't know, but I have had the same suspect since last year, and I'm playing the game since 2017, so I think that I can tell a human player from a bot.
They can't be just new players, because they almost don't react even if you fire at them, they just continue doing what they were doing like bots, they sorta have a scripted route and they follow it. They will fire at you only if you happen to cross their route.
Another thing that makes me suspicious is that I've encountered them everytime that, after a long wait in queue, the battle starts with less than 32 human players (for example 16 or 18) and then the game will fill in adding several of these "sus" players all together and just after a few seconds.
They have random names composed by name and surname (almost no human player uses his true name and surname in WT).
All I wrote is referred to air AB, and it happened to me always when there were few players online and the queue time was being too long (generally around 4 minutes).
I only play GROUND/Tank, but yes, I do believe some matches have Gaijin supplied ai/bots. Based on many of the actions/game play I see from "team mates" a human which is that brain dead could not even remember to breath and thus, would expire.
It's worth noting that most WT players are terrible, and I don't say that just to be mean to anyone. WT is quite a complicated game and very overwhelming for new players jumping in blind. For example you'll see a lot of posts of people firing only APCR for the sole reason that it has the highest penetration value, not understanding armour angles, post penetration damage, where to shoot, etc. The tutorials only touch on different shell types briefly and the new animations for the shells likely don't help (as it clearly shows APCR penning a 60 degree plate which uh... lol).
Map positioning and knowledge is extremely important as well as knowing where and when to shoot an enemy and having situational awareness at all times. New players simply do not have these skills and suffer from it. How often have you seen someone push into the open and explode only for the person behind them to do the exact same thing completely oblivious?
I like to explore maps, try to find hiding spots, vantage points or cool secret areas and due to the need to do this even more as I'm making a guide for newer players like my self (under 200 hours) I've been revisiting 1.0 and 2.0 and have started running into some odd things. I've entered several rooms with Giajin bots and and the "new bots" with only myself being a real player, nobody talks, nobody gets into planes (Ground RB) and whilst everyone respawns they just suicide charge into each other with the new bots coming out on top due to better aiming. I've also found several nice hiding spots and "secret" paths around maps only to have "players" sometimes as many as 5 simultaneously make a U turn and begin charging toward me, despite there being nobody in the air to notify them and despite the fact that there is large amounts of terrain (250 meters or more and in two cases a mountain) and foliage hiding me from view. if it were 5.0 I'd assume these were players who knew what they were doing and knew where all the good spots are but at 1.0/1.3 its a little odd plus having multiple players turn at once is even weirder. I've also had "Players" driving at top speed, spot me, do a 90 degree or more turn, aim and fire a 2000 or more meter shot and either miss by a couple of feet or hit the best weak spot on my tank in under 5 seconds on multiple maps, which even for the best players should be impossible under 5.7 before guns start to get better stabilized. There's something going on and its been increasing in frequency. I even had a match two days ago where my team which seem to be all human (all 16 of us typed not quick orders, typed at least 1 thing in chat) went up against either an entire team made up of one Squad (are 16 player squads even allowed?) or a team of bots which wiped the floor with us and we were the up tier with the lowest BR level vehicle being my Tiger H1. We didn't stand a chance they drove straight through the objective right into our spawn and won the match in 4 minutes 48 seconds (single capture point Realistic Battle), they lobbed perfect shots over hills killing 8 players in half as many seconds, took to the sky's and shot down our air support from over 600 meters away, dropped bombs that landed just as people spawned, knew where every player was at all times, even tracking down our only break out force, me (tiger H1), a Russian T-44 and a king tiger and shot us through the windows of the buildings we were driving passed (windows that had other windows and debris and foliage protecting us from line of sight from the enemy). absolutely destroyed us, all whilst we screamed in chat while waiting to respawn about the insane kill cams. they won by killing all 40 or 50 of our tanks rather than by capping the objective.
Something is really off and it scares me...
oh and unfortunately I'm not joking around I even have a replay of a similar battle on the same map which took, I think, 4 minutes and 57 seconds. not quite as spectacular but I didn't get shot through two sets of windows so I'm slightly happier with the loss.
