Maybe check out wreckfest or something, that seems good. From the developers of flat out 1&2 if u like racing.
For tanks i enjoyed the browser io tankwars much more than war thunder. Dont know the state of it, havent played in a few years...
Lower tiers are more fun. Each tree has their high and low points, I would just go for Soviets as they have a strong mid tier and good variety. But really take a break.
I got my own "fun" line ups at different BR with different nation i like to play for fun with no focus on grind.
This is different for each nation. some i like at high tier and some at lower. Some nation i got different line ups at different tiers that i like to play.
For me im kinda tiered of mid tier, and low tier is just a big cluster, fun in small amounts.
So im mostly sticking to the between 7-9 Br brackets. and a little bit at top tier (now 11)
2.3 France - having a stabilized gun (crusader) at this level is just so much fun, I don't play the heavies nor that bathtub TD, as far as I'm concerned they're slow, hot trash. I stick to the crusader and m5a1.
3.3~5.7 USA - shermans, m24, M18, jumbo... there's plenty of fun vehicles in here, but again, I find most fun in having a very early stab with the shermans.
4.7~5.3 Germany - undertiered KV1C, Tigers, Panthers, the best AAs. Nuff said. 6.7 can be cool when not too uptiered.
3.x~4.7 Rus - KVs can be good, T-34-57 is so enjoyable I actually aced it as a free account.
9.7 Rus - T64B was THE vehicle I wanted to play when I started WT (will ace it eventually, too). Even if it isn't all that brilliant, it gives me joy taking it for a ride. Doesn't hurt that the T72B and T72AV make for a consistent lineup.
10.7 - I find the T80U & KA helis to be great fun. T72B3 & T90A are okay as well.
Don't have brits, but I suppose I'd have great fun with the crusaders. I have played the Challenger 2, but I'm not sure on it, I find its looks repulsive.
2.x Japan - You can have early stabs here, again. Also, I really enjoy the aesthetics of the vehicles here, those square vehicles full of nuts and bolts and big tracks are quite unique.
tldr: maybe you gotta find vehicles you want to play, not lines/trees.
Personally I find Rank II the sweet spot for "fun" games, because it is easy to reach the vehicle rank; you can pretty much fill a roster out in a day or two of focused play, and as said before, you find games get really competitive as time goes on. AFA what country I find best for Rank II, USSR and Britain has some of the best experiences in Rank II as USSR has a whole lineup of T-34s and Britain has some great vehicles in that Rank.
All the main factions, japan, and sweden are good choices for the lower BR. Skip france, their tanks are ♥♥♥♥ pen with ♥♥♥♥ ap rounds until you get the lend lease ones do you get anything worth a damn. I will admit though if you are into heavy tanks, the Char is a meme (as in bad) but fun.
If staying with the UK, do the South African tanks.
