Ideal shell type for low tier Germany?
Hello, I want to try out tanks but I'm really confused with all the different shell types.
I've been using HEAT shells this entire time, good or bad idea? What shells should I be using instead of that?
At the moment I'm using rank 2 tanks.

Depends... on what tank specifically?

Although, a rule of thumb is that German Vehicles have good default shells that penetrate their opponents in their BR..... until it doesn't.

Panzer 4 family, Panzer 3 family and the StuGs.

For the short 75mm use heat and for the long 75mm and anything else HV use aphe

For the Stug and PZ IV tanks, if they're the short gun variants, stick with HEAT rounds, if they are with the long 75mm at gun, stick with the default ammo type, it will do the job, and allow you to hit enemies head on, but consider HEAT rounds for light armored targets.

For the PZ III just stick with the APHE rounds too, you have little reasons to carry APCR rounds, renown to be unreliable in game

For the Panzer IV C I'd main the APCBC and take some HEAT rounds, later variants until the F2 main the HEAT rounds.

Panzer IIIs main the APC rounds and take some APCR if you have it unlocked, especially for the short barrel 50mms.
