Average mobility
Average to below average armour
Average to below average guns
Lack of lineups.
Useful and usable but not exactly sticking out in any field I'd say.
at low level crap guns, past rb 3.3, some of them have very good guns.
Average Guns. They have a decent flat pen...but unlike most other guns atrocious angle pen, so atrocious that you actually have a not too small chance to bounce off a Sherman's or T-34s front.
Pretty good filler tho.
Na-to at 3.3 and the chi-ni2 3.7 off the top of my head, if you can't kill with those 2 vehicles, it is you.
Anything can bounce off a sherman or t34 if you don't aim, I don't blame the tank for my bad shooting.
It's basically the one shining ray of light in the japanese tree when it comes to pen before you get to the CHEAT-FS guns at which point armour doesn't matter anymore anyway.
The later Type II guns tend to get shafted by anything that angles.
So basically a bad gun doesn't exist because any gun can penetrate somewhere. Bad guns are just bad players.
I'd also add suspension and optics to pros.
-very low repair costs
-good filler
-good flat pen
-not common so players might not be familiar with your armor layout
Cons:
-All of your armor is in your front plates. A reserve 37mm can easily pen the Chi Ri from the side. Don't angle because of that.
-no pen whatsoever against slopes
-later imperial tanks are huge targets
-no real CAS options
Cons: Oh ♥♥♥♥♥ wrong war
Low-tier isn't spectacular, but it's not bad. Naturally the 2.0 Chi-Ha Kai can't pen a reserve LVT at long range, but the same LVT can frontally pen it from the same distance no problem, but that's the norm with fighting American reserves.
