Issues with Tank randomly changing direction while I'm moving.
Recently I've been having a problem in tank battles where it seems to be randomly trying to jolt in a different direction, it feels almost like there 2nd person in control that is occasionally trying to drive the tank the other way. My first assumption is that is lag related but I'm not sure since the frame rate for the battle itself looks perfectly fine and the direction its trying to go in often has no relation to an buttons I've pressed.

So I was wondering if anyone might know what the cause is and if there is anything I can do about it? I know my connection is pretty good and has been fine in game since I started playing, so I'm not sure what more I can do if this is the cause. I've also tried looking through this and other forums but nothing else I've read seems to match the description of what I'm seeing.

over the years, this has only happened to me when I've killed or almost killed by keyboard with coffee or old age.

everything seems ok then at some random moment in the game the tanks drives off in a different direction and you can't get control of it for a bit.

I'm currently on a 5 pound cheap keyboard as my gaming one went in the bin about a year ago, I've got a new one but not going to use till I've killed this one but it seems to refuse to die.

Random _non-commanded movements_ (you didn't press any keys/input any command prior to the movement) does sound like a hardware issue - keyboard/controller - whatever you use. I keep a known to be working keyboard & mouse so I can swap them. If one of them fixes the issue, I know I found the problem device.

Lag/PL related (PL being the worse of the two) don't use your FPS to measure those. Instead use the ping & PL values for your connection to the game server that are displayed on screen (LL corner) while in game. They're not perfect either, but those ping and PL numbers are a more direct indication of what's affecting your games.

This is most commonly caused by Packet Loss (PL) when your connection to the server or the server itself experiences issues. You'll jump about in tanks, your allies will start flying and in planes you'll plummet straight into the ground. You can see both your ping and packet loss in the bottom right hand corner. PL should be on 0% for normal gameplay.

jolty movements? yep thats packet loss alright

Okay, having just attempted a match it does look like packet loss is the problem. The resting ping and PL seem to be around 40 and 4% but occasionally they would shoot up to as much as 300 and 10% which seems to coincide with those sudden moments when I loose control of the tank. Plus my keyboad is in fairly good condition and I'm not noticing any similar problems outside of the game.

So is there any reason why my ping would suddenly become so bad in the last couple of days? As my connection itself seems to still be fine as far as I have noticed and its mostly just that the ping keeps shooting up once every 30 seconds or so then returns to normal.

You'd have to run some tracerts, etc., to the game server to know what/where the trouble spot(s) might exist between you and the game server - inclusive. Ping and PL can fluctuate wildly, with respect to time so the game numbers may not be telling the whole story.
