We'll probably see the Navy variations of the F-4s as well much sooner than anything else so I would suggest making sure your Navy line is up to par as well if it isn't already.
Do you have the jets involved to give any preference for playing as is?
I play top tier jets quite extensively, especially the Phantoms and now the F-5E.
I didn't bother actually flying the F-104s, they're overtiered one trick ponies that are inferior in every way to their other F-104 counterparts and rely on your opponent being incompetent than anything you did successfully in an engagement to score a kill.
I pretty much view the Harrier in the same light. The only thing that really makes it "OP" is due to the air spawn (that it really doesn't need due to its excellent climb rate) and it has better missiles for its BR range than anyone else. It's fun to play around with the thrust vectoring a bit, but in all other aspects, the Harrier is lackluster. I unlocked the AIM-9Gs then stopped playing it as I found it boring.
To me, you'd probably have more fun just sticking with the F-4C. I play it in a fighter-bomber role in ARB. I'll load up Sparrows, 12x 750lbs bomb load, go take out some bases/intercept other aircraft with my Sparrows on the way to a bombing target, then switch to BnZ tactics against other fighters with the Gun Pod or Vulcan ground targets. Very fun way to play it imo and you can blare Fortunate Sun on your playlist to add bonus Immersion.
Thanks for the perspective.. I am especially glad to hear that tactic with the F-4C works.
I see you're a civil sort of dude. I can't send you a pm so let's bury the hatchet eh?
I get rekt a lot, but also it is such a different game than ww2 planes. Basically no MEC which is something I constantly adjust when i play older planes.
And as I was playing I noticed the wee F5-E taking off and I had flashbacks to the FW 190/BF 109s lmao.
So I decieded to ditch my dreams of the AV-8C which would take 2m SP to get vs 780K SP to have the choice of either of the 11.0s.
And especially since I have the first phantom I would rather play with the sexy F5-E.
Any tips?
I am learning radar decently enough.. but any tips on that?
I want to play SIM but no one ever seems to do sim 10.0+ :/
I basically can't wait to flex chaff when I take off lol.
Glad to hear you're having fun!
The biggest tip I can provide on Radar is to make sure to set a toggle for "Select Radar/IRST target to lock" to an easily accessible binding. If someone Chaffs your Radar lock, you can sometimes re-lock your target through the Chaff by cycling through the false radar returns and back onto the target. This also helps making sure your radar lock doesn't stray onto a friendly target or a target you don't want.
