Well, ofcourse the stock shell isnt good. Pretty much no vehicle is good with stock equipment

It becomes extremely good when you get the heatfs

That's not entirely accurate; many of the German and Soviet vehicles, at least from WW2-era, start out with a great shell that is either the best all-round pick for said vehicle, or only slightly worse than said best shell. So it makes sense for a Germany main to be unpleasantly surprised by a bad stock shell.
