Why is Marder A1 7.3?
I am not sure I understand why is this vehicle at 7.3?
- It is not that fast, assuming that it has no armor for "mobility".
- It is relatively big, but it only carries 4 ATGM's.
- The cannon does no damage whatsoever... It struggles to kill Bradleys and Warriors, and it cannot pen an R3 from the front at point blank range. It has a hard time with barrels of medium/heavy tanks.
- The ATGM's it fires struggle with pretty much anything... Hitting lightly armored vehicles is more or less a hit/miss , some times requiring 2 hits (for light vehicles). My understanding is that you need to use the ATGM to ammo rack tanks, but that never works (I hit a heavy tank on top of the ammo, the crew beside the ammo died, but the ammo did not explode).
- Turret rotation isn't fast enough to cope with most of the planes (jets) it faces, unless they run into you.
- Shooting helicopters in the face (cockpit) still requires more shots than it should...
- If your ATGM tube gets damaged, then the cannon doesn't work any more.

It seems to me another paper armored vehicle with questionable mobility and offensive capabilities, just like the Leopard 1, the only difference is that the Marder can spot.

I tried sticking close to flags, staying away and spot and hit targets of opportunity, but the result is pretty much an unreliable vehicle.

What am I doing wrong?

use it as AA works really good in that role :v and dont stick near flags its free zero to the enemies aiming at you

You have 57mm of pen on a gun that fires 13 times a second and almost 80kph forward and backwards and a fast atgm. Just play it like other IFV's and itll do extremely good

It could be way higher than it already is

I play on Ground RB... the highest I've seen it climb is 55KPH. The ATGM's aren't that fast... The onyl IFV that is worth anything at German 7.3 is the BMP-1

And its far superior to bmp if you have any idea how to play it

Not sure how good you have to be if even shooting enemy tanks doesn't do any damage to them. It is a bit annoying that turning ammo red with an ATGM hit doesn't really ammo rack the vehicle. Also not sure what more I can do if it takes a considerable amount of 20mm shells to damage the enemy's cannot barrel.

Not sure where you have been driving it to be honest, and yeah, how to play it is what I am asking here...

its not a better ifv than bmp1 but i think its there because of anti-air capability.

Seeing the sorry state the ATGMs are at the moment, I can't see it fighting against anything that is not made out of paper, so I am asking why it has been placed there.

Cannon obviously struggles to onehit, but it is 20mm and shoots 13 times a second so it dosent matter.

Never struggled to onehit most tanks with the atgm

i found that the marder is also pretty useless, the atgms do almost nothing (extremely lucky if one hit) they also have a long reload time for both the atgms and the crappy 20mm autocannon. the only good thing i can say about it is the open space in the back that shells might pass straight through. i think it should be moved to 6.3 atleast as it might give it a chance.

Its an SPAA that gets 4 missiles.

As for the missiles you need to make sure that you hit areas of tanks where the enemy stores their ammo.
