Not because of any track armor or skirts, but rather the extra bit of plate on the front of the mantlet (or whatever, you know, where the cannon protrudes from the turret) that the lower ranked Pz. 3s do not have.
only by watching your replay (and I don't want too) can you see what angles you were at when you fired.
Pz3s actually have good armor, with many frontal parts being 50+20mm. Add some angling, distance, and server/client position differences and it isn't hard to bounce such low pen ammo.
Anyways yeah they straped that extra plate on the turret, and on the front in front of the driver to deal with people actually realizing the wwI AT guns were garbage now.
It really is just the 3m an 3L that require a little finesse, but only when fighting at their br.
Also as a KV player, you got nothing to complain about...that is the best heavy vehicle in the game at its BR.
