Free repair time question
I'm still new to the game and learning things, so I have a question.

For example let's say all my tanks for one nation are broken and I don't autorepair them. I let the time free repair do it. In about 1 hour all my tanks have been repaired.

During that hour can I switch nation and play with those tanks, and when I switch back after an hour will my tanks be repaired then?

I'll probably try it out and answer this question myself soon, but just wondering out of curiousity...

It's still an investion as each crew for that nation need to have that repair skill, one lvl higher for every rank of vehicle. Otherwise it'll repair slow

In Logistical services --> Repair Rank.

you should have infinite free repairs for premiums. the fact you still have to pay in game money after spending up to 80 real life money is ridiculous

to answer your question yes the timer starts when the match end where the tank was damaged and you can play any other nation while the timer ticks along however there is a caveat to this that for later on in the tree you can end up waiting a long time (im talking like 14 days) for a tank to repair which at that point is it worth the wait to save in some cases 7k SL (i know some tanks aand planes cost alot more)

To answer his question.

Yes you can switch nation and play with those crews instead..
cause that is not same tanks or crews..

yes you can play another nation while your first is being repaired.

what I used to do when I was new......

take for example the russians, they have t34s and low vehicles that can be repaired within half an hour to an hour.

these are not rubbish vehicles, you will have a lot of fun with them.

Now while that lot are being repaired, play something like low germans or usa,
usa are good all round vehicles and the germans have good guns.

Play a t1 or t2, low br that also has half an hour to an hour free repair.

by the time you have done a game, the first should be repaired, if not, play the third.

NOW vehicles repair quicker if they are in the crew slots,
(or they did back in 2015)

that means that if you play a game with a tank,
I'll say t34 as they are quick to repair but it is still damaged, so you change damaged t34 for one that isn't,
in the same crew slot,
the one that is now no longer in a crew slot
(think of it as now in the background ) will still repair but at a slower speed.

THAT IS WHY why you go to bed, put your expensive vehicles into crew slots.....not that any of us remember, I know I don't any more.

You can have a lot of fun in this game and it won't cost you, the problem is we all want the new shiny stuff.
Once I got the shiny I didn't like it but we are all different.

have fun.

Thanks for all your answers :)
I did try this myself playing some USA tanks while one of my Sovjet tanks repaired in mean time.

Whenever too many tanks are repairing for one nation I'll play with another nation instead.

It's weird however the same crew driving tanks also fly planes. This free repair won't work if I do some air battles (as the same nation) while the tanks are repairing because that's the same crew beeing used.

Yes, but you have to have the damaged tanks in an active crew slot, or it repairs EXPONENTIALLY slower.

If you leave the vehicle untouched, it'll repair within the time frame shown on it's stat card. I've never used this feature though, so I do not know about the fine details about it. My guess is that if you choose another vehicle for the crew, the damaged one will still autorepair.

It still will, but at a MUCH slower rate.

The crew you have assigned to the vehicle is reparing that vehicle.
if you chosse another vehicle for that crew they cant repair the other one.
cause no crew on it.

If it would be up to me they could just put a side the damged one and we repair that one later. when i am not online...

The benefit of not repairing right away is the cost goes down for repairing the vehicle over the course of the free repair, so if it takes 1 hour to repair and you leave it for 30 mins then the repair cost has gone down by 50%, if i want to play again on the same vehicles i just hit play and let it pay for the repair right away.

I use to have auto repair on after every match till someone on youtube pointed that out, it may not seem like much but saving a few thousand SL from time to time can stack up, it's also good for your last match of the day leaving them to repair and reduce the cost for the next day because yeah some vehicles can take days to repair even with good skills.

Yes, crew slots are shared by the nation's planes, helicopters, navy, and ground units. And, as others touched on, even letting a vehicle sit repairing for a few minutes will decrease the cost to repair it, so definitely try to get into the habit of switching nations, especially towards the end of your gaming session; having most of the crews repairing for even a few hours will definitely reduce your total costs, effectively increasing your profits. I'm really bad about doing this, though I'm not a F2P player, so I'm not hurting as much for SL (but having more wouldn't hurt).

Between their increased rewards and reduced repair costs, you break even pretty much just from getting killed. . . The ridiculous part is that Gaijin charges anywhere near that amount of money for a single vehicle.

My repair costs are next to nothing at mid tiers since I constantly rotate the battle ranks and nations that I play. The repair consts look after themselves while I use this method of play. If I return to a specific nation or battle rank and the costs have been reduced enough (my policy is by at least two thirds) than I decide to pay out the balance and keep playing or end the play session for the time being.
