Afaik now ?
But why using Linux as a gamer? Makes you unflexible.
I never heard that Linux gives you better performance playing games. I should try that out!
Thanks for the hint.
While I admit that Linux isn't a perfect gaming platform compared to Windows, it's actually decent. Valve games like Team Fortress 2 and CSGO are natively supported on Linux, and you play a lot of big titles like GTA 5 using Valve's Linux compatibility tool(Proton). It's not as bad as people make it out to be, you only really can't play games that have a high level anti cheat like EAC or BattlEye. That includes games like R6 Siege and Apex Legends. War Thunder has EAC, but War Thunder is natively supported on Linux so it works fine. If you want to see just how many games you can run on Linux with Steam, check out the protondb.com website.
As for Linux running games better than Windows, I normally didn't really experience that. Games ran just as well as Windows at best, which is pretty impressive. But outright better? Wouldn't say so for my machine. Could see an improvement on low end machines though, due to less resource usage.
To answer this: War Thunder is natively supported on Linux, but I unfortunately have the same FPS issues as you on Linux. War Thunder otherwise runs at a smooth very stable 60FPS on Windows. After making a thread about this at the War Thunder forums, the Linux techmod there told me that they are aware of the poor FPS on Linux and that they're working on it. Tried on a number of distros - Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE, Arch and so on. War Thunder lagged like crazy on all distros.
It makes you unflexible only to the extend that you have a smaller choice in games + can encounter more issues that aren't fixed. Means devs release patches to fix windows related patches for a game but Linux is completely left behind.
I personally like Linux Kali and use it every day, especially for work, but I haven ever tried using it for games, only once or twice.
