A couple of months ago, my account was hacked. I noticed my tanks kept changing, but I wasn't played the game much so didn't really pay much attention. Every time I did log in, my German tanks had changed back from my selections. I eventually realised that someone had hacked my account. I asked Gaijin to freeze my account completely until they could sort it out, which they did.

Having got my account back, I played a couple of destroyer battles, but then logged in yesterday to find that I'd been banned for using hacks / mods. I just assumed that this was due to a report built up against the hacker, who'd probably just been cheating whilst playing on my account.

But then I got a message back from support today to say that the cheating had occurred on my machine, presumably in the battles that I played the other night.

Obviously it makes no difference to plead my innocence here, but I'm wondering if this has happened to anybody else and if they know how it happens? Like I said above, I haven't really played properly for months and obviously I haven't installed any mods or hacks, so does anybody know why this has happened?

I suppose the good news is, they actually do ban people for cheating, which is good to know. I'm talking to support but they're basically telling me it's tough, I shouldn't have cheated (which I didn't, but I have to somehow prove that now).

I've been playing for 8 years and have built up pretty much every vehicle in every tree, so it's pretty sad to get kicked out for something I haven't done.

The proving is not on your part. Its on their part..
They must prove that you cheated..

If you live in Europe then its an easy fix..

I do live in Europe, UK. What's the easy fix? They haven't explained to me how I cheated, other than using software (mods). I know that's not true so I don't know how I've been flagged for it. If it's not on me to prove my innocence, how do I go about getting myself unbanned? They've just said something along the lines of 'There's nothing we can do about it'.

I am pleased to know that they ban cheats, but after about 10,000 missions without so much as a report and then 1 mission where I'm flagged as a cheat, you'd think they'd at least be willing to use a bit of logic and look into it.

Ironically you're probably the first person I believe (or at least believe it to be possible) that you didn't cheat. No VAC ban, nothing of the sort. It also seems weird that you would throw away (what had to be) literally thousands of hours of grinding and almost having unlocked every vehicle in the game, just to cheat in naval of all things? It just doesn't add up to me. None the less, assuming you didn't cheat, I hope you can get your account back.

Sadly for OP, we can't do anything. And based on the "There's nothing we can do" cookie-cutter response, this is going to be a tough one to deal with.

You are wrong.... did you even read the EULA that you signed when you made an Account ? They got the right to terminate it at any time when they see fit.You own nothing,not even the stuff you paid for.Everything is just borrowed.

Yeah, I have to say that I'm not hopeful. They seem very dismissive of my appeals. As you say, why would I play for 8 years, buy gold coins (once bought a 365 day deal), not have a single report against my name, grind up all the vehicles, and then cheat for a single game? You'd think they'd employ a bit of logic and realise that this makes no sense.

I can't understand how I've even been flagged. It would make sense if it could accidentally happen, but presumably any cheat mod has to be actively installed by the user. It's not something that you could do by accident or by oversight. So you'd think that they'd be a bit more active and investigate it a bit, or at least give me some more detail so that I could work out what I'm even being accused of.

The fact that this came directly after having been hacked leaves me very despondent. The hacker spent my remaining eagles on a Premium account (it was only a week, but I was saving it for next time I was active). I asked if they could refund it, but they just ignored me, although they restored my account so I didn't bother pursuing that.

If they do listen and let me back in, I'll be quite pleased at how aggressive they are against cheats. I'm all for perma-banning cheats. If they do this a lot, then I guess they're bored of hearing people's appeals and it might be very difficult to get this over-turned. But then, if you're innocent and they're too busy / too fed up of listening to appeals, it's gonna be very harsh on innocent players.

I'd assume the system picks up mod usage though? It's not like a verbal abuse report or something (never speak on chat anyway, not sure that's even a thing).

Out of interest, when playing tank / realistic, are you supposed to get red arrows pointing at the enemy tanks? Returning from the hack, I went into a tank battle, but didn't realise for a while that I was in realistic mode (the hacker had been playing realistic tank battles only, but I only play arcade). Since it'd been so long, I just thought that the game had changed. In realistic, you don't see their names, but you see a red arrow pointing in the general direction?

You mean the red arrows at the edge of your screen? If so then yes thats normal. I beleive its to do with your skill in keen vision/awarenes or whatever.

I don't think so, I had some red arrows, like >>> , pointing down at the tank. It was strange because I'd never seen them before, but then I play arcade where you have both the name in red and a red outline around the tank, so it wasn't all that useful anyway. But if it's not meant to be there, then I guess something's wrong. But then, how the hell would it get there if I haven't installed it? It's not like my hacker could install stuff on MY PC.

I just read some of Gaijin's old tweets and Facebook posts and their attitude is basically, once you're banned, you're banned and we're not going to talk about it. At least one guy sounds like he's legitimately been banned for no reason, so I guess it's just a random minefield and there's nothing you can do about it.

Nope. You don't see any markers in RB, unless the tank is scouted... and that isn't red.

So unless the "hacker" was using your computer....
