What is the campaign like?
I see that there is a WW2 element to this game, but that there are also lots of modern fighter jets and technologies that obviously didn't exist in WW2. And I don't really want to play a WW2 game.

So I'm wondering: how much of this game is WW2? Is the single player campaign WW2 only, or are there other more modern wars featured that I can play in instead?

There is no Campaign Storyline... War Thunder's a game along the lines of World of Tanks/Warplanes/Warships.

I would say like 70% of it is WW2, and then you have the cold war-modern stuff, but in terms of game time you probably play WW2 stuff for 90% of it until you reach the higher tiers (assuming you don't just buy they way straight up the top)

They've been marketing the game as a moden vehicle combat for a few months now if I remember well, so they will add more and more stuff in the future

So did Gaijin.

No, but they're not the main sell of the game

War Thunder is like 90% a multiplayer game, there are single player elements, including two "campaign" packs that you have to buy (they come with premium account+aircraft and bits too), but they're not like your typical campaign from Halo/CoD/Battlefield/Etc, rather they're just single missions set in a certain battle.

I believe there are a few single missions with Korean war era jets, but I think they require playing the multiplayer and unlocking said jets first before you can do them.

In short if you want a strictly single player experience, look elsewhere.

Then you're here for the wrong reason.

It's not really advertised much. I've yet to see any Gaijin marketing that makes a point of the single player aspect.

Exactly; one of the reasons I gave WT a negative review on Steam was all of the super-misleading ads/trailers showcasing cold war/modern stuff when they know darn well that new players will have to start in 1930s vehicles and spend tons of hours grinding to get to the vehicles they were "promised"---unless they fork over tons of money, then it might "just" be a few dozens of hours with a brutal learning curve.

As above, they are referring to the modern vehicles, not single player.

I was not refering about that, but about wether if you look at the steam or their twitter banner, or the launcher itself, or the last trailers there is nothing there that claims most of the game is WW2 era related
