i let my AI gunners shoot the most time
I never let my gunners shoot.
Sometimes i snipe 2km away in lowtier.
Most of the time i already shoot and hit at 1km disctance
Pilots know u can't man the gunners right above the bases when aiming for those so thats where & when they strike. And the bomber is toast unless u skip bombing the base on the first go, man the turrets and hope u survive the attack.
300m...one does not have to get that close in realistic, sim in that case maybe 300m is good. I think it would be better for the game with 550m though.
In arcade with maxed crews they fire beyond 700m...dont remember how far exactly with ace.
But would be good with a hold fire/fire at will command button.
today bombers with gunners are just a joke and they realy need to change their maps so bombers can shine again.
Something like a Ju 87 with a single tail gunner? Leave it wherever you want the front guns.
Something like a B-25? Set it to none and turn off the mod for the forward 50 cals. The spread will do convergence for you.
I think its 780m in arcade and 330m for an aced crew in RB and Sim.
Only in Sim is it actually reliable since people don't open fire untill they're that close anyways unless it's a bomber attacking another bomber.
There's a button for Gunner Stances in Air Battles though, which is called "Toggle AI Gunners"
How far would they start tracking/start firing depends again on their Skills in Firing Accuracy and Firing Precision
