"New Power" broke the game for my mac

A few months ago, I switched to the "Metal" renderer and everything was working fine, even got a few more fps on my old mac. Then out of nowhere the "Metal" renderer stopped working and would NOT let me launch the game. As a result I switched back to "OpenGL" and the game ran as normal. Now with "New Power", OpenGL has been removed, and "Metal" still no longer works for me.

What I really don't understand is why "Metal" worked a while and then all of a sudden would not let me launch the game a few weeks ago.

This is the message it gives me: "Metal is not available for your Mac or your macOS.
War Thunder doesn't support OpenGL anymore and requires Metal support"

Specs: (I know they suck but its worked for war thunder for the last 6 years)

2011 mac mini
High Sierra 10.136
2.7 ghz i7
8gb ddr3
Radeon HD 6630m 256mb

For what it's worth, the latest update broke WT on my Linux machine. It was working fine with my GTX1080, but now all I get is a black screen. I'm diddling with the video settings now, trying to find something that will work.

from what ive seen all of my computers dont work mac windows and linux only a few people can get in for some reason its kinda annoying

Yeah, there's some serious bug here. The game actually runs. If I run in windowed mode instead of full screen, I can tab away from the window and see the new grooviness. But whenever I click in the window, everything goes back to black screen. Sad. Today was a "big trophy" day, too. Maybe I'll just go look for something similar in the Steam store.

Yup, there are glitches and texture errors with internal nvidea gpu being used. Ati 580 eGPU is being ignored despite configured for usage. MacOS Big Sur

It's a vulkan thing. I don't believe there is anything we can do until gaijin fixes it. If you're worried about login awards, the game still registers inputs even when the screen is blank.

no such thing as "not meant for gaming" its just that the devs are slow to port over to mac and linux since windows dominates the market

And i'm playing on a mac because its all ive had for the last 8 years and up until this update war thunder worked fine

Yeah ive seen other people having similar problems but for me it's not that I can't get in, I literally can't launch it. Seems that they no longer support my OS version. Just hope new parts start becoming readily available so I can finish my new pc

Does this mythical Apple M1 even have dedicated graphics? Who even cares about a slightly faster CPU if all it can do is beat mediocre 4-5years old PCs with low-end graphics cards at gaming. My ancient waiting-to-be-replaced 980GTX probably demolishes it.
