Slow turret traverse?
Is the t54 turret handcrank or electric. If its electric then they have underpowered batteries and weak machines

I'm pretty sure it's the crank, hydro-electric is only on the T-62s and later version of USSR MBT's

Oh god no. Even the t34/85 is electric

Well the T 54s when pushed into production didn't have the plants to make them and had been plagued by lackluster technological capabilities in some fields. This was especially true immediately after the end of the war. Some factories were short of qualified personnel, worsening the quality of the tanks they built.

Usual soviet quality. Not like german engineering

Yeah if they were german they would break down every 150km like the german tanks.

Well, most production facilities was either T 34s or IS plants, you would have to convert them into T 54, which is diffcult if your pushing into a new era of tanks. Given the fact they also won just from a devastating war not long, it's quite impressive to build a new and first of it's kind tank.

It used an electromechanical system known as the UOT-1, later changed to the EPB-4 (I can't find much on that system though). From what I have found, the minimum traverse rate was 0.13 degrees per second with a max of 10 degrees per second. So, it was powered, but set at quite a low speed. I'll try and find more, but info like this is quite hard to dig up.
