Unless the shot made was against an incredibly angled piece of armor there's no way a bounce could be attributed to a poor shot, unless it was a M4A3E2.
Edit: This isn't limited to just 88s either, the 17-pdr is in the same boat as it should be able to go through a whole hell of a lot more than what it currently seems to be capable of.
These recent updates with Volumetric Armor and now Volumetric Shells seem to have created more problems than solutions. I'm all for fixing pixel-wide shells travelling in between armor they realistically shouldn't be able to pass through but make sure your new system actually works before you put it out.
As always, a few problems introduced with the last major update still haven't been fixed and are likely never going to be fixed.
I don't know where he hit, you're right. Though I did specify that one of the only reasons his shot wouldn't have gone through is if he hit incredibly angled armor, which would be a poor shot. The 88 has more than enough penetration potential to go straight through any of the Shermans, save for the Jumbo, almost everywhere along the face of the tank. The likelihood of the shot not working because of a terrible mechanic put into place by the devs is far greater than shooting <10% of the visible surface of a Sherman that can't be penetrated.
There are very few personal improvements to be made when what holds you back is the game itself. Certainly a lot of issues could be attributed to client/server disparity but it seems to me that with every update they end up causing more of the issues they tried to fix. In my opinion they'd do better fixing issues that have been reported to them and keeping these new major mechanics on their test release until they are actually ready.
By the sounds of it, they didn't test this anywhere near as much as they should have.
Also keep in mind that even with 100% targeting (yes, max targeting, max leadership, +3 expert, +2 ace) and a spaded vehicle shots still deviate from where you aimed.
This, so much crap is happening with any 75mm+ AP, APHE, APCBC.
Pardon? If you meant the E2 then it wouldn't be uncommon nor weird to see this specific variant to yeet back your shell.
As for M10, regardless of your tank, this Tank Destroyer's frontal hull is awfully trolly.
I've engage it in a point blank range with 76mm Sherman, it bounced.
Are they? Seems like mostly german mains complaining they can't cheese pixel turret rings anymore.
