Why does everyone hate the KV-1 L-11?

Hey,

I'm doing a 3.7 Arcade tournament with friends atm... And while everyone decided to go with either T-34s, Wirbelwinds or p IV F2s, I've chosen the KV-1, and they're all like wtf dude what kind of bdsm are you into . That's not the first time I'm being told this... And I'm seriously getting confused.

Why would people prefer crisps-made tanks like the P IV F2 to the great behemoth goofy and big KV-1?


Everytime the KV is brought up, I only see people literally trashtalking it

Personally I'd always choose the 3.7 T-34s, amazing guns and from my experience against the Germans, similar survivability. That's on realistic though.

Meh, I love t-34s but KV-1 is best IMO thanks to its armor

It's slow and the gun is a peashooter. It's not a bad tank, don't get me wrong, but it certainly has its downsides. And the armour means very little before enemies who know how to aim (and since it's arcade they don't even have to know that).

So far so good, won the first match using the almighty KV-1.

because the pz4f2 may not be able to take a hit but its gun is capable of killing every tank it can meet even at extreme ranges where many enemy guns are inefective. a skilled player who knows what they are doing with it can get a lot of kills that way

the kv1 on the other hand is a brick with a terrible gun and while it might seem invincible to newbies, players who know what they are doing are more than capable of killing you while you are forced to attempt to close in.

Except KV-1 which knows what they're doing won't just blindly charge and play as support tanks, while properly angling both their turret and hull whenever they can, making those a very hard to destroy target.

Whereas the P IV f2, no matter how well you might want to angle it or the distance, will always remain a wooden box.

Is that the one that almost nothing it's tiered against can pen?
Square turret around that BR range- flat hit in the side of the turret at point blank with the Japanese long 75 still nonpens.

the point i was tryinng to make which you have touched on is the kv1 is somewhat a passive threat compared to the pz4, sure you can angle your armour and hide around hard cover but the best defense at all teirs is always not being hit atall, your only good point is perhaps surviving those hits you shouldnt be taking... and regardless of what you do there is always someone out there that can kill you and when they show up its lower mobility and gun performance dont give it many options.

the panzer 4 is by comparison a very active threat, a skilled pz4 player will operate at ranges where you gun is inefective, use terrain to mask movement and firing positions and disapear when not activly firing. if it can see you it can probably kill you, if you cant see it it could very well be moving for a better line of sight on you

Wait they don't like the kv-1? Are you kiddin that is my fave in the 3.7 bracket, its beastly armor its gun works fine you just got to aim like all guns. I mean crying out loud they want to ♥♥♥♥♥ they should see the Churchill scout with a its pee shooter gun lol. Its 3.0 but I still do good in that as well.

Some people just got no clue how to use a heavy is all.

Flat armor, easy to penn with APCR, Unlike T34s that are faster, Better gun, And sloped armor.

Easy to pen, unless you're in the majority of the tanks it's up against that can only pen in between the tracks.

I can frontally-pen T-34s all the time, but between the tracks is the only way not to nonpen that KV.

Probably, but tbh I rarely got any troubles from P IV F2s, I almost always insta nuke those before they get to deal me any serious damage (ie some thread I made the p IV some time ago). I know I've been told so many times that this tank can be dangerous if properly played, but I'm still looking forward to seeing it (except for the rare cases here and there). Here again, it's probably the most destroyed 3.7 tank according to WT stats I had checked.

@Others Well I admit there are people saying it's OP, but I've seen way more bash against it than "OP PLS NERF" threads tbh

Don't forget that you are expierencing it in arcade mode. That hampers the F2 a lot, mostly because of smaller maps and autospotting. Meanwhile, the KV-1 gets some of its weaknesses alleviated - the mobility increases a lot, and the indicator makes penetrating weakspots with the awful gun easier.

And as for the "most destroyed"... Germany is one of the most popular nations (if not the most popular) and the F2 is by far one of their best vehicles, and pretty much everybody's first pick at that BR. That it would also be the most destroyed vehicle comes naturally.

KV-1 needs less skill to use. And its annoying af. So you gotta have the killer of kv-1 the pz 4 with long 75mm
