Angled piercing power is what matters most i think, 1 example are the british MBts, stock apfsds has 410mm piercing power and the upgraded ammo has like 396mm but more angled piercing power so its better in most situations.
Also, since it only sits at 8.3, only using HEAT-FS is also an option, though I haven't tested that yet. Technically it would be the best option unless you're sniping.
Last year HEATFS seemed like it was actually quite good, now days it just not resemble what I experienced, I only carry it for certain situations (very few of them), especially when someone peaks with their hull a little too much, for which they are immobile due to my first shot (APFSDS), second shot would be the HEATFS to do more damage to parts of the tank I can not hit with APFSDS.
@=JOB=novastorm//pt\\ GENERALLY I prefer more damaging shells with lower pen for example APCBC instead of APCR or better against angles like the case with the T-62. The 3BM3 has A LOT more Penetration than the 3BM4 in this case.
Also another question, how much effect does having a 'STEEL' APFSDS (3BM4) do in this game?
I don't know if spalling of the dart is affected in game, but I can imagine that the steel APFSDS is taken into account in Gaijins formula, considering that for being APFSDS rounds, the T-62 ammo is garbage compared to even contemporary APDS rounds, nevermind other APFSDS rounds.
