FV 4005 vs Conway
Hey, I recently got the FV and I love its derp cannon. Whatever i don't destroy outright I cripple with that monster gun. My question is, how does the conway compare? Does it smaller gun hold back its damage potential or does the quicker reload make up for it?

Its got a much better gun mantle for protection and like the shed its breach eats incoming shells fairly often. Its gun is good practice for the following tanks which all have similar if not the same gun. My suggestion would be to practice with the HESH on the Conway, you'll need to aim more than on the shed.

Learn to aim better with HESH. HESH shrapnel goes in the direction of the plate it hits.
For example, if you hit the top of the turret, the shrapnel will go downwards and it will be pretty much a guaranteed kill.
Lower plates are also good, as it sends the shrapnel upwards.
In pike noses like the IS-3s, avoid shooting at the UFP as it will mostly only kill the driver and maybe 1 on the turret.
If for example a Tiger 2 is angled, your best 3 options are the top of the turret, lower plate and side of the tank.
The 4005 is pretty good at one shotting once you learn HESH mechanics

So the HESH is still the go to ammo type for the conway and not the other types despite the smaller gun?

Yes because the HESH can regularly knock out turret crews, stopping them firing back. The AP can pen but what you damage can be irregular.

Alright then, I'll pin your answer and thank you for your time.

I did, but as I don't have the Conway I couldn't answer that (guess I should've pointed that out), so instead ,

I wrote a bit about this, as you said you didn't one shot things like it's supposed to.

It spreads the explosive out over the plate, which means more of it is in contact with the plate, leading to a more efficient transfer of force and more chance of spalling.

To my experience, if you hit with Hesh at vital points the enemy is 99% done

It doesn't actually "penetrate".
It squash explosives against the armor to create spalling.
So obviously angles are useless
I love the fv4005. That tank has so much Splash damage from its shell, just a couple days ago I killed an enemy tank with it and also killed a friendly airplane with the same shot.
