I commit in a head on with a bf-110
I fire 3 perfect shots
all spark
then he kills me by spraying mg
WHAT A TIME TO BE DEAD BECAUSE OF BAD LUCK AND BAD SERVERS
The game chooses whether to show a hit graphically(sparks etc) before factoring ping between both parties.
Now if between you and opponent there is pretty much next to no lag/latency then a spark is a hit. Even server lag can attribute to a spark here and there but majority of the time it will be either 1 or both of the players.
In tanks, it isnt an issue due to the slow moving vehicles, but in aircraft you can notice the issue.
All you can do is adjust your aim slightly. In Ab just aim a bit further forward(depending on you and targets angle etc) from the lead indicator, you may not see sparks at all but you will start getting 'hit' appear on screen.
Now i dont know where you are from/what servers you play on but US is my best server pingwise followed be SA then EU, i can see how much my ping has risen on the further servers. The difference between playing on US and Eu server is noticable. I have to aim quite a fair bit ahead of usual which im used to since ive played on both quite a bit.
The other noticable issue on EU is when i head on firing well before lead indicator range and roll out of the way. On US i can do this easily and dodge fire + score the kill, on EU due to ping it works far less often.
It has been posted on official forums about sparking quite a bit, not sure if it has been mentioned on steam forums at all.
The other option if you are sparking and getting hits and you think your higher cal weapons should be getting a kill, there are large spaces in most planes where hitting will do next to no critical damage and the other plane will just shrug it off. You need to aim for certain pars of the vehicle to do any major damage/score the kill. Wings, pilot, engines etc.
Although from what youve mentioned it does seem more of a latency issue.
Try to pick the servers that have the lowest ping, there is a drop down menu near the 'to battle' button that allows the choice of which servers to draw from when queueing.
- also the larger cal weapons have pretty bad acuracy, more noticable at range, so your shot may not of been as good as you thought. or if using multiple weapon types, it could of easily been a lower cal weapon that score the hit and the larger cal missed.
