Arcade: Theyre just outturned by almost everything else in existence, and are probably the worst nation to play (ak Warthunder on hardmode = playing american planes)
Realistic battle: American planes tend to have alot of energy retention which (as far as i understand it) is the ability to gain speed and retain it after pulling out of a dive. Their turn times stil arent that great from my experience. Theyre boom and zoom because youre supposed to dive, knock out your target and use youre (appearently usually superior) energy retention to maintain a high speed as you make your getaway.
I only play arcade (played RB a few times but i find it a waste of time), but an example is the american P51, the american BF109 and the american A6M2 (a japanese plane). The p51 turns very very slowly compared to everything else that isnt an american plane. Soyou will almost always lose a turnfight. But the BF109 turns on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dime and ive never had anything give me trouble shaking, and hardly lose turnfights. The A6M2 is even better and turns what seems to be twice as fast the BF109, it turns stupidly quick.
