Japanese UH-1B is completely useless
The UH-1B is my first helicopter and it has immediately killed all of my interest in that side of the game. It's slow, it only has 38 rockets and it dies super easily to machine guns. Compared to the AH-1G this thing is an absolute JOKE. Why does it only have this one awful loadout? The American UH1B gets machine gun pods and more rockets (being 0.7 br higher it also gets missiles), why does the japanese one not have these options?

Oh it's also a *380.000* RP grind to get the next helicopter, the AH-1S early.

Is there actually a worse grind in this game than with this abomination?

Seriously though, did anyone here even manage to get through the AH-1s with this thing? If so, HOW?

If you would like a solution to the helicopter grind problem, please support my gamemode suggestion on the WT forums. It's a PVE simulator gamemode that incorporates ground units with aircraft and helicopters. You'd be able to fly your heli in peace against AI on a huge map with objectives to do, like heli EC except there's no KA-50s ATGMing you from 10km as soon as you spawn.

With the high rewards of simulator battles, a gamemode like this would make the heli grind bearable. I also find it a lot more fun to fight AI than it is to fight players when I want to relax.
The Japanese only ever experimented with rockets on the UH-1, that's why it only has those. This was never used operationally and stayed experimental.

Since when does Gaijin give a damn about such things?

Since the start of a game. They sometimes give leeway to vehicles or aircraft if they *could* equip them, such as the AH-1S having flares because they could, but the Japanese never put flares on them in real life.

However, the UH-1B doesn't have the equipment for anything else but rockets, it's literally incapable of having any other armament.

I get that, but this only makes the japanese UH-1B look even worse. Why even bother adding such a weak and experimental helicopter other than for nickel and diming players who actually want to use one of the other helis?

From my impression it's the worst helicopter in the game. It can't get any lower BR because 8.0 is apparently the helicopter BR floor, it can't get any better loadouts and you can't remove it because you'd only have the AH-1S early to replace it in the tech tree.

At this point it's only a big middle finger to the F2P japanese players who dare wish to play helicopters.

It's really the only starter one they could have aside from the H-13H which was experimentally fitted with four Type 64 ATGMs.

Considering both are experimental modifications to existing helicopters, I'd rather have that one because it seems a lot more competetive and fun to play with.

It wouldn't really be more competitive, the ATGMs would be only slightly more effective than the rockets. They would have only a range of 1.6 kilometers, travel at 85 m/s so you'll be hovering in the air for a good while, the box at the bottom would be small as the TOWs if not smaller, and this'll be on an airframe from the 1950s. It would take 3-4 seconds for it to travel a kilometer. The only ATGM with similar performance would be the Rb 52, if the experimental HKP 3A with it is added, but even that is at least packed onto a UH-1 airframe.

In the end both the H-13 and UH-1B would be horribly exposed to anti-aircraft fire, and to boot, radar-guided anti-aircraft fire; but the UH-1B has a bit more of a chance of surviving with the superior airframe albeit it's required to get closer.

to high of br repair costs through the roof research required to grind through is out of hand
Is any of the japanese helis good?

Yeah this would still be better than the UH-1B right now. Atleast you would have ONE viable tactic: getting into ambush positions and sniping from the rear/sides. At 1.8 kms you'd atleast have a chance to remain undetected and fire a few missiles.

From my experience so far, every rocket armed helicopter usually just swoops in, maybe gets a few kills and then ends up getting shot down by tank AA machine guns. With the UH-1B it's especially bad since the controls are sluggish, your speed is meh and you only get 17 rocket salvos per run.

I'd rather have the worst missile helicopter in the game than the worst rocket pod helicopter in the game.

The American UH-1B can literally equip miniguns, the Hiyodori is the exact same model, so it can also quote unquote theoretically have miniguns since it in practice could definitely have miniguns.

This thread is over 4 years old man, did you really need to post this?
