I am slightly annoyed that they force you to take the gun pod. Whats the point of making a fuss about it not having a cannon if you are going to force it to carry a cannon in almost all of its loadouts anyway.

the f4 should get something better than the aim 9e like the falcons radar guided or a later version of aim 9

You actually can take the gun pod off. There's exactly one loadout without it.

I don't think taking the pod off actually provides any benefit in the game, but a no-gun loadout exists.
