Try using crusie control and lock it into CC2, so it stays one gear short of the final gear. Should prevent a lot of transmission-hop.
Honestly, it does have its advantages. Enough for the average joe, probably not.
Pretty sure it negates the "lag" of remaining in neutral, and iirc going from "forward" to "reverse" is a lot smoother/faster. It's been a long time since I've used it though.
It might be an error with the new update.
Occasionally, I hear the shifting sound so many times, I don't think my transmission is actually shifting that many times. I think it may be a noise error related to the update with the sound modification.
is CC1 still too fast for the stab? Haven't played with sherman/chaffee lately.
+Stop gear auto shifting when using neutral steering leading to your tank not moving at all
+First gear for hill climbing
+Allow to select the best gear for certain maneuver without consantly shifting between max & min output
+Good for moving around
-Can't do quick reaction
-Very bad idea to use in combat scenario outside low speed combat approaches
